    Sure, why not.

    simon says...

Good morning...before I head off to Montreal I thought I would give my two cents on a (semi) hot topic. A few of my girls have recently asked me what I think about dry shampoo. My thoughts:

It's no substitute for good old fashioned hair washing, but it's useful as a pick-me-up, especially in the summer when you're sweating more than usual.

Essentially all it is does is soak up grease, eliminate odour, and give a lil' boost. You know what else does that and more? Baby powder. Women's best friend.

If the idea of sprinkling that into your hair doesn't appeal to you, go ahead and spend the money on dry shampoos. I've tried Oscar Blandi Pronto. It smells lemony fresh and is easy to use. A cheaper option is Tresemme's line. I'd avoid the spray because if you don't work it in properly, it may leave white streaks. The mousse is better.

Some days are better than others with this product. I've had days where my hair was second-day dirty and it worked well, and I've had days where this product didn't work so well on my second-day hair. If I put it up, 99% of the time my hair is fine and doesn't look greasy with this product, but if I have it down I usually have to pin my front layers back or stick in a hairband because my roots look greasy. I haven't figured out why sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, but I sure wish I'd bought the one for oily hair! The one I use for normal to dry hair is a mousse-y, foamy type and the other, for oily hair, is a powder. The powder seems like it would give more volume and would prevent those greasy appearances!

If I do slip on a hairband when using this product, I usually leave my hair tousled... the product itself gives good volume to my roots, which I certainly can't complain about. It has a nice, typical fresh-shampoo smell which I like, and doesn't leave your hands sticky if you're pressed for time and can't wash them right away. The cost is good, and you can find both types (dry/normal or oily) in drugstores. You can also blow dry your hair after using this product which is, from what I hear, the best way to use this product... but I usually let my hair air dry as I don't have a lot of time. To each their own; I recommend this one if your hair doesn't get greasy easily, and I recommend the other one for oily hair if you have oily roots after missing a single day of washing. It's non drying, so you could even wash your hair every other day to keep the moisture in, and use this on days where you don't wash!

This is great for freshening up. It's similar to other brands (like Batiste) but for me, doesn't look or feel so powdery in my hair.
The scent reminds me of hair spray, really, but it's not terrible and I can't smell it on my hair afterwards anyways. It makes my hair feel a bit less greasy and flat when I use this - I skipped washing my hair for a day and used this instead, and my hair felt ALMOST the same as usual. There is still a bit of that powdery feeling of course, and it did not make my hair "full of bouncy body" (lol) like it says on the bottle, but the results were still good.
It recommends using the Fresh Start Refreshing Mist if you want more shine after using this. I think a tiny bit of any kind of shine spray would work too, but I'd like to try the Refreshing Mist next anyways!
Overall, I really like how this gets rid of some of that unwashed feeling, and doesn't make my hair look or feel as weighed down with powder as other brands. The scent isn't the best but it doesn't last long regardless, which I like (since all of the other products I use are scented).
This is decent if you want to freshen up the texture of your hair and kind of neutralize any unfresh scents, but I would look somewhere else if you want something that has a long lasting, perfumey smell.

TRESemme Fresh Start is a fast and cheap way to hide your stringy, greasy strands ASAP. Dry shampoo is NOT a substitute for washing your hair, but in a pinch when your roots are too greasy to go unnoticed and you don't have the time or resources to wash, dry and style your hair, this product will do the trick.

Admittedly, it is a product that you have to use a few times before you get the hang of and it has an 'old-lady perfume' smell when you first spray it, but the smell does go away after a few minutes. The dry shampoo comes out as a white powdery substance that you let it sit a couple minutes and then brush out. If your hair is dark like mine, it may look a little dull afterwards, which is why the company suggests following up with their Refreshing Mist.

For the price, the speed of use and the portability of the product, I think its a great option. I have also never had a problem with the TRESemme spray bottle clogging, unlike with the more expensive brands like Ojion.

Like most people I was looking for a solution where I could wash my hair every other day so I wouldn't dry it out or fade the color so much, I had tried a couple dry shampoo products before but never found to much positive's from them. I watched a couple reviews on the TRESemme Fresh start and thought I would give it a try. This was pretty terrible, I have dark hair so this left my hair a grayish color which is just not cute and just left a gross residue in my hair. It would have been better to just leave my dirty greasy hair alone and i would never ever buy this product again. It might work with a lighter hair color or maybe it you have thicker hair (My hair is fairly fine so this did nothing for me)

    Would I repurchase? NO
    Would I recommend? NO

I've tried dry shampoo before, and have to say that I don't like this particular product.

The particles that sprayed out seemed to be larger than that of other brands, which meant that you could see a coating of grey/white power in my hair (which is black). Even after trying to shake it / brush it in there was still a grey tinge.

Other brands, at a similar price point, seemed to have a finer spray, which meant that it was more easily hidden /absorbed. If I still had the receipt I'd return this to the store.

I'm trying to get out of washing my hair everyday, so I really wanted to like this product. Sadly, it did absolutely nothing for my hair. At first I just thought I wasn't putting enough on because I didn't feel a difference whatsoever so I kept putting more and more on and it didn't make my hair worse and I didn't see any grey or anything but it certainly didn't make my hair ANY better. This was about 4 dollars which is pretty good, but next time I'll save my money towards a dry shampoo that'll actually work.

I got ahold of some of this on sale at Shoppers last week, and have used a few times since. You know how baby powder is supposed to help soak up oil in hair? I think this is something similar but the powder combined with a spray can. It works pretty well and smells great, but I feel like the spray makes my hair seem more wet and it takes quite a bit to remove the amount of oil I'd like. Overall it works great, however, it's been less than a week and for some reason my spray can lost pressure and now I can't spray anymore... but other than that, I recommend it!

I used to have very thick curly hair, but after dying it too much it is now thin and lifeless...I wanted to start wearing my hair more natural (I used to style is to a straight bob) but since is too thin it won't stay the voluminous bob I want it to be until I started using TRESemme dry shampoo. I wash my hair as my usual routine however I use this product in place of a mousse or hair spray, it makes my hair really bouncy and thick. The only downfall is the smell.

I recommend it, yes. Is it my favorite? No.
I'had it for a couple of months and only used it a handfull of times. I'm not a fan of the smell, but then again, I'm very picky about smells. It did it's job, it got rid of the oily look of my hair, however, I found my hair looked a bit powdery. I brushed and brushed hoping the powder would get brushed away, but it did not, not fully anyway. I recently went from light brown to dark brown and feel on the darker hair it's just not as good. Having said that, I do feel on lighter hair it would work best.
The container does suggest you follow with the Fresh Start Refreshing Mist. I will buy the spray and try it again, hopefully this will help with the powdery loo
