I will recommend this with reservations. This is a good device to have when walking on ice and snow in the city. It did not tear up the ground as your feet dug into it, nor would it ruin floors. However, it becomes treacherous once you step indoors on hard floors because the Yaktrax has nothing to grip to. Walking on bare concrete is fine for short distances, but it will eventually wear away at the coils and cause them to break. These coils are also apparently sharp enough to cut through the rubber - and eventually cut them off of your shoes.
I have had to replace them a couple of times before moving on to something else. It works - but take care of them and ensure that they are used in good ideal ice conditions within the city.
