These magnetic child safety locks are a very useful product with just a few issues that hold them back from being great. Anyone who has ever had to use child safety locks will be familiar with how ugly all those plastic latches can be on all your cupboards and drawers. These locks use a magnetic key to completely avoid all of that. The locks are all hidden inside your cupboards and you use a small magnetic button to unlock them from the outside. It's easily the coolest feature and a great idea because it hides all the unsightly locks away!

The installation process is super simple and requires no screws or nails. Everything is done via adhesive strips that are already attached, so all you need to do is peel and place. This is a great alternative to the usual screws and nails, but it does lead to the biggest problem I had with these locks: getting them installed and lined up correctly requires a ton of guesswork, and can ruin your adhesive strips.

Because the locks are inside the cupboard, you have to place the two components on the inside of the cupboard and on the door, and then close the door to see if you have lined them up correctly. If it's not perfectly lined up it doesn't work, which means you need to peel off one of the pieces and reapply it. This means every time the lock is less sticky, and therefore less strong.

Once the locks are installed, I don't know if they are strong enough that a child couldn't pull it open with enough determination. The adhesive is strong, but I'm not sure if it's strong enough. Very young kids should be fine though, and obviously pets as well.
