I started working out about a year ago and whey protein makes all the difference! Make sure you only do one to two scoops a day or you'll start gaining like crazy though. Great as a meal replacement and to get your day going right! 100% Whey Protein is the best I've found and it comes in all sorts of yummy flavors! Make sure you check the ratio of grams of protein to calories. Some of these are geared for people looking to bulk up and are not recommended for anyone trying to slim down.

I started a high protein diet to improve my overall health and to lose weight from my pregnancy. This stuff is great because it boosts your metabolism, gives you energy to start off your day, and keeps you full a lot longer than cereals or other breakfast foods. It's been about 4 weeks and I've lost almost 8 pounds :)

Try this for your morning shake and you will notice a difference in your energy level as well as how much less you snack throughout the day:

1 cup skim or 1% milk
1 cup frozen strawberries
1 small banana
a scoop vanilla protein powder
1/2 cup yogurt of your choice
- blend until smooth and enjoy!

I would recommend anyone looking to get in shape to try whey isolate protein powder! Some brands are better than others, so it's important to check out the label before purchasing. Make sure you find a flavour you like! So many brands offer a large variety of delicious flavours, which really add to a morning shake.

As a previous reviewer noted, a morning smoothie mixed with protein powder is a great way to start your day, and super easy. Throwing in some fresh or frozen fruits with protein powder is super easy and fast, and really sets the tone for your day. It's so much healthier than some of the other quick breakfast options, (eg, super sugary cereals or cream cheese bagels) and just as tasty.

I gave Whey protein 5 stars because as previously stated protein is invaluable to everyone! That having been said most of us do get enough protein in our daily diet. In order to use protein to stay strong and slim as opposed to just adding calories to the diet( unless your trying to gain weight and or size)...I would suggest mixing it with water- not juice or milk and using it to replace your first meal of the day ( a meal too many of us skip...) because this will speed up your metabolism. Also consider other ways or incorporating lean proteins into your diets like soy products and tofu (whey is a soy protein)

Protein is the hardest nutrient for our body to digest and it burns a lot of energy (calories) to get that done. Also with the help of a good supplement regimen you it can help to keep hair nails and skin longer stronger and healthier.

Finally nothing is going to tone itself no matter how many tubs of the stuff you drink so do your squats and leg lifts if you want to shape up!

I don’t diet but a while ago I re trained myself to eat less carbs (only dark high fiber crabs and fruit for the most part) and higher in protien sometimes for dinner ill have a lean cheese burger without the bun and a side of tofu lol with a spinach salad or something tofu for me doesn’t really count as meat so I use it as a starch lol but I make sure my body gets whole grains and fruit throughout the day.

When I’m leaning out for a shoot I simply walk a little more and a little faster do loads of crunches, pushups and squats at home...and divide my calorie intake into at least 5 meals a day. I actually eat more often sometimes as much as every hour up until about 4 pm where ill only have a high protein dinner…

REMBER the less you eat the longer it takes to lose weight (for the large majority of people)Because your body is scared of starving( when ever you feel your stomach grumbling you should give it something…ANYTHING, is better than nothing!) People who don’t eat regularly or enough put there bodies into starvation mode and either maintain there weight or gain! And foods that are high in carbs low in nutrients- (low in fiber high in sugars etc) are burnt so fast and offer no nutritional support its sabotage!
So yah…add Protein to your diet and start with some Whey at the beginning of every day!

Cheers to protien shakes! Even if you aren't lifting weights, supplementing with protien is a great way to support a sexy figure. Protien is stored in your body in lean tissues like your muscles, it CANNOT make it's way to your pot belly or thunder-thighs. Carbs we don't burn right away are stored as fat on our body, and eating carbs will spike your bloodsugar, leaving you hungrier faster.

At breakfast time when you're rushed and you can only eat one thing, instead of reaching for the toast/bagel/muffin, have a protien shake. This will stabilize your blood sugar levels and prevent you from burning muscle as fuel (catabolism).

If you take small amounts of protien regularly throughout the day, your body is going to send out signals to BURN FAT, because it sees you aren't starving yourself. Another obvious time to supplement is after you work out to promote muscle recovery. You could also take some before bed, this prevents your body from using muscle as fuel once your calories from dinner are all burned off. Figure out how much protien you need and split it up throughout the day. (a good rule of thumb is at minimum half a gram of protien per pound of body weight, more if you are exercising. So if you are 130 lbs you should be getting at least 65 grams a day.

More muscle means faster metabolism! It's like the engine in your car...the bigger it is, the more gas it takes. So boost your "horsepower" instead of starving yourself, and you'll loose weight the healthiest and most sustainable whey (pardon the pun).

Young women should really work to gain muscle in their youth because it will keep you're skeletal system in check as you age and help you maintain a healthy weight. Don't be one of those scrony sissy's who thinks that muscles aren't sexy--she won't be so hot when she starts to age...quickly. And besides we know already, women's muscles develop to look longer and leaner because we lack the testosterone to bulk up.

As for taste, the best one I found is called ISOFlex...www.isoflex.ca
Right now I'm taking the chocolate one--which has little chocolate chips in it and tastes amazing. It contains 25 grams of protien with only one grab of carb and one gram of fat per serving. Try it with exercise and you'll get results.

I agree with previous reviewer, whey protein powder is a great supplement to help your muscles recover after a workout! It's quick, easy and convenient.

My only issue with whey protein is that some can taste really bad (Yea ok, I'm big on taste but I'm all about the taste of food and the nutrition!). There are some brands on the market that are better tasting than others. Generally, though you can make them taste better by changing up what you mix them with. If I have chocolate flavour, then I will mix it with milk. Strawberry goes better with OJ. Experimenting helps you to decide what works best for you in terms of taste!

I have yet to recommend a good brand yet. But I will once I find a tasty one!

Why some of us get confused on taking protein sources is that we dont want to get too muscular like men. Well, there's nothing to worry. Take one scoop a day should not be a problem. It will feed your muscles (which of course, you work it out) in order to get leaner and stronger. You dont get gladiator big by drinking protein. But how you work out.
