Laloux Restaurant - Montreal

Laloux is an adorable neighborhood bistro with cozy yellow walls accented with dark wood and best of all, crammed with locals. I loved it immediately on arriving for that alone.

Unfortunately our service was exceptionally slow. I'm not sure if that was unusual or not but it took a long time to get our order taken. However, the shrimp salad appetizer was fantastic and my mushroom nut pasta that followed (Cavatelli, champignons sauvages, cipollini, parmesan, noisettes), even better! My husband ordered a steak, which he wasn't wild on, but our dinner companions really enjoyed their selections.

Desert was especially clever: a glass canning jar with layers of chocolate mousse, crunchy cookie bits and fresh cream.

The prices are reasonable and overall the restaurant was quite enjoyable.
