I received this product as part of the Product Review Club - This one was alright, but again, not my "cup of tea" in regards to a granola bar I would choose in the future (not a fan of the fruitier taste compared to a saltier/sweeter taste). I'm sure other people would like it, so I would still recommend it.

I wasn't too excited to try this variation of the Brookside Dark Chocolate Fruit &Nut;Bars, not exactly my favourite flavours but Brookside pulled it off pretty alright and it tasted way better than my expectations. I wish they didn't use glycerine in these bars though. The snack is a good size to satisfy a carving though. Thank you for letting me try it for free as part of the ChickAdvisor Product Review Club.

Acai is such an odd flavor! The blueberry with acai bar was not my favorite, which was really more of a personal preference, since I'm not a fan of either fruit.

It's a good size snack bar , perfect for the jolt of sweet you crave around 3pm. I found this one a little too sweet for me personally, both in taste and smell. The blueberry was definitely evident. If you are a fan of blueberries in general, this is probably the bar for you .

I received the 3 flavours of Brookside Dark Chocolate Fruit and Nut Bars as part of the Product Review Club (thank you!). The Blueberry with Acai is likely my favorite of the three - I am biased towards blueberry though, I love them! I really like the look of the bars - the clear packaging is a definite bonus, since the bars themselves are so visually appealing. I decided to eat the bar before looking into its nutritional content (I'm on Weight Watchers, I was afraid I wouldn't want to eat it if I looked at the info first haha). The bar is definitely sweet, however, it doesn't have that over-powering grainy sugar taste that many granola bars have. The portion is big enough for sure (perhaps a bit too big, if using these as a 'snack'). The nuts and sugar definitely overpowered the bar though - moreso than the blueberry, acai and even dark chocolate. Given this - I still enjoyed it with my morning coffee and it kept me full until lunch. That's a good thing - considering the nutritional content - too much sugar for my typical morning snacks - and 7 weight watcher smart points per bar. (which is a lot considering a typical daily consumption is 30 points). At an average price of 1.99 per bar, I find them overpriced as well. I decided to recommend it - based on the fact that it was delicious - however, I likely won't be purchasing them.

I was lucky to be able to try this for free with Chick Advisor! I found this flavour to be very hard, almost stale! When I bit into it I almost thought I was going to crack a tooth! I was not very crazy about the taste either. As far as nutrition goes I feel these bars have too much fat in them.

I received the Brookside Dark Chocolate Fruit & Nut Bars from the Product Review Club.

These initial comments are relevant to all 3 flavours and flavour specific comments are below.
My first impression was that they looked amazing. I really liked the transparent packaging. The Visual appeal of the bars is strong with quality ingredients being prominently displayed.

The portion size is good although $2.00 a bar is a too high in my opinion.

They use lots of buzzwords like Gluten Free, High Fibre, Source of Antioxidant, All Natural Flavours etc. based on the marketing and packaging of the bars, I believed that I was getting a really healthy, wholesome bar that I could feel good about eating.

After tasting the bars and reading the ingredient list I'm not so sure that's true. Look closely at the ingredients and you will find that almost 50% of the bars main ingredients are or include high sugar components. (The ingredients are more or less the same for each of the 3 flavours)

(Ingredient #2) Dark Chocolate (sugar; Chocolate; Cocoa Butter; Milk Fat; Cocoa Processed With Alkali; Soy Lecithin; Milk; Salt; Vanilla)
    Sweetened Blueberries (blueberries; Sugar)
    High Maltose Corn Syrup
Sweetened Cranberries (CRANBERRIES; Sugar; Grape Juice Concentrate; Blueberry Juice Concentrate; Sunflower Oil)
    Invert Sugar
    Sugar

I think its important to be fully aware of the true nature of a product rather than the presented nature of a product. If you are buying this bar because you think its a super healthy alternative to some of the other popular snack options you may be mistaken.

Blueberry Acai was the flavour I enjoyed the most of the three. Blueberry Cranberry may be a better description however. It was the least sweet and most natural tasting. I love the whole almonds and the pumpkin seeds, I love the texture and the crunch of the bars, and I love the visual appeal of the product. I wish the fruit was not soaked in sugar and I wish that high maltose corn syrup was not used as the binding agent. The dark chocolate is the second listed ingredient on the bars and its flavour is completely lost among the rest of the sweetness.

This was my least favourite of the three fruit bar combinations. While it was tart, it was not nearly as much as anticipated. The see through packaging is nice as it allows you to see exactly what the product looks like and what it contains. Again, the nut combinations make up the majority of the bar by far. Out of all of them this one I felt had the least fruit. The fruit hardly stood out and was difficult to taste or pick out at times. The dark chocolate is a nice granola bar option compared to the majority of bars out there. These bars have better ingredients than some, is a good source of fibre and has some added vitamins (A, C, and E) which is a plus. They are also Non-GMO, Low Sodium and Gluten Free which is great. Again, there is way more sugar in these bars then one would expect which is very disappointing. A lower sugar content would be nice and give this bar a huge advantage over other. That being said it is still far better than any typical lunch box granola bar. You definitely pay for name and that extra bit of health. It's more like buying protein bars at this price mark. Overall they are a good occasional snack product, but I will most likely not be buying this product unless it is on sale.

not my favourite! i can't even pin point what it was exactly but this just wasn't agreeing with my palate. I also think there was nothing unique about this particular bar in terms of flavour.

Expensive and contains more sugar then I hoped. The taste is ok. I love that it contains nuts (protein!) and that it is made with dark chocolate (I am not a fan of milk chocolate).

Not bad. I didn't find the taste very blueberry. And I love anything blueberries.
The chocolate was pretty good, overall the bar was full of flavour. But I've said is about the two other bars, I wouldn't rush to buy this bc the fat is too high for next to no protein.
Thank you Chick Advisor for sending me this!
Great taste, but for that many calories and fat - no thanks.
