    Neither color was good

I have green eyes, so being able to try Burt's Bees' Defining Retractable Eyeliner in Mulberry seemed absolutely perfect, I was sure the color would make my eyes pop! I was bitterly disappointed all-round by the eyeliner.
There were two good points: the product is easy to move up and down from the pen, and even though it came really close to my sensitive eyes, I had no sign of any irritation. However, the color is not very pigmented, not a true mulberry and very muddy. It's more grey-berry than anything else. It takes a few passes to build up any color at all, and while my eyelids are admittedly oily, all the color I did build up disappeared on the less than 20 steps between my vanity and the washroom. Horrible staying power. I tried again with a base, no better except it smeared everywhere when I blinked too. The only place it stayed was the back of my hand where my skin is super-dry. I was so horribly disappointed because I had actually been looking for an eyeliner in this particular color for a while at a price point that was reasonable. This one just isn't it.

Burt's Bees Defining Retractable Eyeliner in Onyx had some strong and some weak points for me. The strong points were that the color was very pigmented, you could get a good black color in one pass. The point was also fine for this type of a liner, and I didn't find that it tugged, so it was relatively easy to get a clear, straight line in one pass as well. However, it smeared a lot both with and without a base. What went on sharp did not stay that way for any length of time. The staying power was just meh. I don't want a liner that I need to keep re-applying all the time. Who has time for that IRL? Overall, the Onyx Defining Retractable Eyeliner is a no from me.

I received both liners free as part of a testing program from another company, but my opinions are my own.
