This book peaked my interest. I wasn't impressed and found it to be very repetitive.
Book one was the only good read (if you want to call it that) out of all three. Went fast down hill for me.
As with everyone else who heard about Fifty Shades, I was curious to see what the buzz was all about. It took me a little bit to actually get into the story and once I did, I still wasn't all that impressed. I found that the sex scenes were very repetive and not as "hot" as I was expecting. This book is hard to put into words because it is strange in a way and to me I found it was one of those books where I wasn't sure if I liked it or not but read the whole trilogy anyways. If you're into romance in erotica then it is definitely for you, although I do find Christian Greys views and expectations a little disturbing at times.
Everyone at work said I had to read this series so I did. I found it average, nothing shocking or incredible. I found I had to keep reading to find out how it all ended by I wouldn't read them again or recommend them as must reads. It was somewhat entertaining but I found it so repetitive and redundant. I was tired of the same expressions over and over through all 3 books. I found myself skipping over sections because it was so repetitive and normally I am the kind of reader that has to read every word not to miss anything. So I would recommend it as a nice love story but forwarn you that is frustrating at times.
Everyone was raving about these books, so I figured I'd check them out. I bought a package (3 books) at Costco for $9.99, which was a steal of a deal. I started reading the first book, and was completely bored. I didn't get into the "action" at all, and found it really lame.. I honestly pushed myself to read about half the book, and that was it. I haven't gone back to it since. Hopefully the movie will be a lot better, for me.
I found once you read the first one it was much the same with the following two books. I found it very repetitive and no real story line to it other than lots of sex and his dark side.
I'm sorry i know a lot of people are loving this series and I do understand the appeal. But personally after reading it I seriously shook my head thoroughly. It's a complete contradiction of horrible grammar, language and structuring of a small child against intense pornographic scenes. I do enjoy erotica, kinkiness in the past but this series seems to almost exploit being 'dominated' by a man with the female lead coming across almost like a naive small child being abused by a grown man. Just was not my taste at all.
This book is being talked about all over, and I want to be the first to give you the scoop. This is the first book of three in the series by E.L James. It's about a man named Christan Grey who likes to get kinky. He's all about being a dominatrix while his sex partner Anastasia is under a contract to submit to him in almost any way he likes. This isn't a book you'd be proud to have out on your bookshelf, it's pretty weird, you almost feel ashamed for reading it, almost like its a porno. I figured I would give it a try and see what everyone is talking about. Although, all this hype seems to be dying down. By the start of winter it may be forgotten about.
