    I LOVE THIS SERIES!
I really love the characters and the way it is written. It's a complex storyline making it not your boring basic A to B book. I love how the characters evolve during the story process and that you get to see their many sides. I am dying for the release of the next two books!

Obviously a huge hit show, but the books are obviously so much better! Read them all and starting to read them again. One of those series you can read over and over and then run and watch the show!

I started watching the series 11 days ago and I can tell you that it is all I want to watch when i get home. It is such a good series, it's unexpected; it has love, blood, hate, a little magic, and a lot of nudity. I have all three seasons with the fourth starting tonight and they only thing I dont really care for is the nudity. There is that one random, blue moon episode where you don't have naked people but other than that I love it.

WOW great books my dad read them when I was kid. I remember his face when he read the end or parts of the books. I asked he told me and now when the show came I am reading them. I will say they are a great story and you will want to keep reading. They are a thinking book so when I close the book I take a easy book to give my brain a rest.

I was late to starting the "Song of Ice and Fire" series, but once I got in, I jumped in with both feet. "Game of Thrones" is the name of book 1 (though the entire series is really a "game of thrones" and it's not unfair to apply the name to the whole thing) and the HBO TV series adaptation.

It's hard to sum up the plot of this series, partly because the author is still writing sequels but also because it's quite complex. In a nutshell, a mythical land is thrown into civil war when several powerful houses try to claim the throne. It's a classic fantasy with magic, dragons, ancient beasts and religion, but overall is far more down to earth than other fantasy series I've read. I read somewhere that part of the inspiration came from the historical War of the Roses, and I can definitely see a lot of that in these books.

The only downside (and this is typical of multi-book series) is that it can plod from time to time. Certain characters are less compelling and I find myself zipping through their chapters eager to get back to the players I prefer. It's bloody and has sexual elements, but again - nothing that isn't typical for the genre.

I've also watched Season 1 of the HBO adaptation (starring Sean Bean). It is fairly true to the book though steamier (cable customers love their sex scenes!) and certain plot points that are handled subtly in the books are practically shoved down our throats in the TV version. Still, a better adaptation than most.

If you love fantasy and historical fiction, you will probably love these books. If you're looking for a quick, digestible read, this is probably a little heavy for you.
