#1238 in Hair Care

Description

Goody Spin Pins are easy to use and are flirty without being too sleek. Gather your hair at nape of your neck (no ponytail holder needed) Twist your hair into a tight bun and tuck in the ends. Spin one pin in from the top and the other up from the base, taking care not to interlock pins. Visit goody.com for more information.

I have been wanting to try Spin Pins for quite some time, but didn't want to spend the money on them if I wasn't sure they'd work. But, I recently found them in a discount basket at my local grocery store and thought I'd take them for a spin (haha).
I kind of love them! My hair is quite long (below bra-line since I made my donation to Beautiful Lengths!) and very thick. What I like about using the Spin Pins is that I can create a loose bun look. Without them, if I want to put my hair in a bun, I would have to twist and wrap it really tightly and use elastics, clips, and bobby pins to hold it. These magical little devices let me loosely twist my hair up (three cheers for less damage!) and hold it pretty well. I wouldn't expect them to hold my hair up and in place all day because it's so heavy, but they work well for a while if I'm not doing anything too active, and can be easily re-positioned when they do start to slip. Also, you might want to use some basic bobby pins to tuck in the ends.
The dark ones are a little light for my hair but still camouflage well.
They are easy to insert, but I should add that they can be difficult to get out. If you spin them in too far or if your hair is really loosely pinned up, it can be hard to grasp the end and "unspin" them. But, once you can get a hold of it and get it started, it comes out easily.
    Give them a try!

I love these pins! They seem like a gimmick but as soon as you use them you will believe that they're not. Honestly, I have pretty big curly (read: heavy) hair and two pins is enough to hold it up, and tightly too. I hate when your hair is held up but feels like it's going to fall at any moment, but with these your hair is secure. Look up videos on YouTube to get the hang of the technique (I am still trying to master doing a messy up-do with them, a clean plain bun is much easier). Also as another reviewer mentioned, buy them off eBay. You will get 10 pins (that's 5 sets since you need two pins to make a set) for the same price as you would pay for one set in the store. Seriously give these a try, you won't be disappointed.

(The only reason I marked these down half a star on price is because they're kind of expensive if you buy them from the store compared to the value of buying them on eBay.)

I really do like these ... My hair is just past my shoulders and use it quite easily, it tends to look a bit messy, but that could just be me. I use them more often straight out of the shower, which is easier but can use them when my hair is completely dry. They hold up all day taking taking care of my 2yr old and 3 month old without loosing at all.

My only complaint is that the pins can bend quite easily while in my hair, if the two pins touch at all. It's easy to bend it back to shape but they can be hard to get out once bent.

These pins work very well with those who have thick hair. When I use these I don't need to put 7,000 bobby pins in my hair. It's quick, easy, and effective. If you do not have thick hair, these might not work out for you. I have a friend who has really thin hair, and she says that she still has flyaways when she uses this. Her hair is so thing that it won't stay in the pins. These pins are ideal of those with medium to thick hair

I really like these. I love to put my hair in messy buns during the school day, just so its out of my face, but still looks cute. These really do take the place of the zillion bobby pins i would normally need to put in my hair.

The Goody Spin Pin claims to help you achieve simple easy hair styles (i.e buns), with just 2 spin pins. Just one of these pins does the work of 20 bobby pins (as per Goodys claim).
You can purchase a package of 2 spin pins for roughly $6-8 and in a few different colours to better match your hair colour (in order to camouflage them in your hair!). They also now have mini spin pins (which comes as a pack of 3)!
I bought a pack of the normal size spin pins in a lighter colour since I have pretty much medium brown hair (and don't care if the colour shows a bit). Personally I didn't look over the styles they suggest too much and just played with it a bit myself. They are very easy to get used to and simple to handle/use.
When I use these my hair feels secure in place, whether I'm doing a looser style or something a bit tighter. I usually probably won't have to redo the sytle a couple times throughout the day to make sure its what I want (though I do it anyway sometimes). My hair is just past shoulder length and a bit thick and I don't find much trouble keeping my hair in place with these, my sister who has short thicker curlier hair also likes these guys.
At first I hesitated because of the price (I like a bargain!) but now I'm definitely okay with the price because they work and you will not need to keep buying these over and over. Hair ties and bobby pins can hurt, feel uncomfortable and also break and you wont't really have those problems with the spin pin! I definitely suggest this for the girl who wants to change up her look easily now and then.

I saw plastic spin pins for $1 each online, but I never got around to ordering them. But when I saw these ones in the store, I figured that I would try it out. They're made out of metal instead of plastic, so I figured they'd be more sturdy. I've tried various hairstyles, but for the small size, you should probably stick to small buns, especially if you have layered hair. When I tried to put all of my hair in a bun using 1, and then 2, spin pins, may hair started falling, especially my shorter layers.

But overall, I really do love these spin pins, but I think I might still buy a bigger size if I can find it.

I finally got my hands on these guys just in time for the summer. Honestly, I have three updos in my repertoire: the pony, the bun, and this twist thing where I take two pigtails and wrap them around each other and back around and just pin it messily. With the spin pins my updo changes each time, and I can just mash my hair at the back and keep it in place with the pins, super fast and easy! I wish they had more ideas (or at least some cooler ones) in the box, but I've looked around online and found some cool ideas I can't wait to try.

after seeing them on tv i started looking in every store. i use 3-10 pins daily so the idea of 1 was great. i was very happy with how easy was to use and how tight it held however i found they started to stretch and bend after a short time. my husband noticed that i was no longer leaving 20 pins laying all over the house so he was a fan.
