I wish I received this product before I went on my 2 week vacation because it would've been the perfect time to test it out. But I found this after I got home and by then, I already have a nice tan on my face and I spend most of my days working indoors. So I did my best to give this product a fair shake.

One of my main criteria for a face product is the weight and consistency. For a sunscreen, I'd say Neutrogena did a nice job in that department. The product is runny, as some of the reviewers mentioned, but I like it because it makes it easier to apply and smooth all over the face. Also, it feels comparatively lighter than some of the other facial sunscreens I've tried. However, with the heat wave and humidity we've been getting, it's hard to make any sunscreen feel nice on the skin. As the day wore on, I didn't notice the heavy feeling of wearing a facial sunscreen and I didn't feel like my skin was clogged and couldn't breath. For that, I think I'd give it a 2-thumbs up!

After applying the sunscreen (over the daily moisterizer), I couldn't bring myself to wear another layer of make-up primer. So I simply applied my mineral powder foundation on top. The sunscreen was stickier than my Smashbox primer, so I used a little more foundation than I normally do, but the coverage was good and at the end of the day, my make-up stayed on with the sunscreen as well as it did with my Smashbox primer. So this sunscreen can definitely double as make-up primer in the summer.

As I said, I spent a lot of time indoors while testing this out, so I can't tell you if the SPF was effective. This sunscreen was more or less what I had expected from Neutrogena. I have used their other sunscreens before and have always been happy with the results. I'll definitely buy this again in the future since it is one of the better facial sunscreen I've used.

I received a free full size bottle of Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Water-Light daily face sunscreen to review.

I really liked this product. It absorbs very quickly and easily, even though it is SPF 45 which I generally find to be very thick, hard to rub in to my face and difficult to absorb. It goes on easily, and leaves my face very matte and non greasy feeling and looking. Make up goes on great over top of this sunscreen, and it does not make the makeup run or smear. I never burned while using this product, even when staying out in the sun for several hours and I am very fair and burn easily. I used this makeup every day for a couple of weeks and it did not clog my pores or make me break out.

There are a fews cons. I have sensitive skin and the sunscreen makes my face burn when I first put it on, but it is very mild and goes away after a minute or two.

It is a very small bottle (40 ml, as compared to 88ml of Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Face sunscreen), and pretty expensive ( $17.99).

I found that although it goes on very matte (makes my skin look more matte than when I wear other Neutrogena sunscreens) it does not last nearly as long as the other matte Neutrogena sunscreens.

I would recommend this product to anyone who has non sensitive, very greasy or oily skin and needs to look quite matte for a bit...if you need to look matte and shine free all day I would recommend Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Face sunscreen instead.

I forgot to add- this sunscreen has a very bad smell to it, a very strong and cloying perfume-y smell. The sunscreen comes in a plastic and cardboard package so you can't smell it before you buy it. They should have put a small scratch and sniff sticker on the package to indicate the scent. I would recommend it to people who have allergies or sensitivities to scents, or who prefer unscented or lightly scented products.

I was fortunate enough to try this product courtesy of the Product Review Club. I have a love-hate relationship with Neutrogena. I want to love their products, but I end up hating them. I have tried nearly every product that they make and have yet to find one that I will buy again. Still, I keep trying them as so many people I know love Nueutrogena.

I was very disappointed that this product was not a moisturizer as well as a sunscreen. It went on feeling chalky and dry, and while the chalkiness dissipated for me, my skin didn't feel moisturized and was quite dry. The texture of the sunscreen on my skin was very off-putting to me. I didn't feel like it really absorbed--it felt like it was sitting on top of my skin. I tried using it with a moisturizer but that made my skin oily and caused me to break out.

It is a very effective sunscreen and has very little odor. I don't mind it so much on my ears and the back of my neck, but I can't use it on my face. I am very disappointed and would not buy this product. I would recommend it to anyone who uses and loves Neutrogena as I'm sure they will have more success than I did.

I received this product in the mail from Chickadvisor Review Club. I am a serious competitive rower, which means I am always on the water. Since water reflects the sun's harmful UV rays, it is crutial for me to always be protected.

After using this product for a couple of weeks on the water, I have formed a positive opinion about this product. Since my face did not get any darker, I think it is safe to assume that this sunscreen works. The only downfall is that it did sweat off within 30 minutes of my vigorous work-out. But, considering this is just a normal everyday sunscreen it does a pretty good job. I found after testing this product out, that I like the texture, its creamy and light on the skin, I can't really feel anything, plus its not sticky. One or two times I was even tempted to use it as a daily moisturizer because it hydrated my skin so well.

I also like the idea of shaking the sunscreen bottle and I also loved the fact that it was scent free. It wasn't streaky and it didn't apply white.

If I was given this item for free again there is no doubt in my mind I would use it. But unfortunately, the price at Shoppers Drug Mart is over $15 and that is too much for me to spend considering how much I go through.

I received a bottle of the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Water-Light Daily Face Suncreen about 2 weeks ago and started wearing it on a daily basis.

It stated that it was great under make-up and I thought this was true but I found the days I went without foundation, it did cast a white mask (but I do have say that it would happen with any other sunscreen) and probably more appropriate for a casual outing versus going to work. I generally use a oil-free Neutrogena facial moisturizer (spf 15) and found this sunscreen was a good substitute.

I found the formula very light and easy to put on. While the size is great to travel with, I found it a little small (and pricey) if used on a daily basis.

I would recommend this sunscreen but not for days where you're wearing light make-up (no foundation). It's a great product but definitely on the more expensive side.

I had the opportunity to review this product through the Chickadvisor review club. I'm really glad I was selected, as this is a great product. The bottle is kind of small for the price that would be paid, but it's perfect for everyday use, and to slip in your purse or handbag.

This sunscreen is perfect to wear under makeup. It's not too thick and greasy like some other SPF 45 face creams I've tried. That's generally what prevents me from purchasing moisturizers with such high SPF, as I find they clot the pores. It is a bit runny, but you get used to that, and it absorbs well into the skin.

To me it doesn't have too strong a scent of sunscreen, which is good. I find it lasts throughout the day and not necessary to reapply. Haven't had a chance to test the waterproofness, but based on other reviews, it seems that's an area of improvement. Will try that out the next chance I get to go swimming.

I received this product via Chick Advisor's Product Review Club to review.

I have combination skin leaning towards dry much of the time and I tested Neutrogena's Ultra Sheer Water-Light SPF 45 after first applying my daily facial moisturizer, as this sunscreen is not marketed as a combination sunscreen-moisturizer or having a moisturizing formula and I was concerned that wearing it alone would be drying for my skin.

Echoing other reviewers' comments, this sunscreen's formula is indeed "runny" and quite light, though it's not the lightest sunscreen I've tried. Generally, I found it easy to apply to my face and it absorbed well when I tried it. My face was left matte but not too dry, though considering that I applied moisturizer beforehand I would imagine that this sunscreen's formula could possibly be a little more drying without the prior application of moisturizer, especially for drier skin types.

The sunscreen has a slight scent, like a generic lotion/sunscreen chemical smell. It's a noticeable scent but I'm okay with it since it's not overbearing.

The Neutrogena bottle is small and can be easily carried in a purse or bag, which I like and is something useful since sunscreen should be reapplied throughout the day. I usually use non-face specific sunscreens that come in much larger bottles, and which usually require the hassle of decanting the product into a smaller bottle if I want something small and portable to carry with me. The lid of the Neutrogena bottle is a screw on/off type that locks securely so there's little chance that the lid could accidentally become loose and have product spill while inside your bag (compared to for example, the "flip top" type lids).

Overall I like this sunscreen but I don't see myself committing to it in the future, mostly due to price. 40mL really isn't much, and if you're wearing sunscreen almost everyday (and possibly reapplying throughout the day), then it seems like you'll go through a bottle fairly fast. At best I've seen this priced on sale for $10 CAN, which comes to $0.25/mL pre-tax. At the moment I'm quite happy with my current sunscreen from a different brand, which suits my slightly drier skin better and has an even lighter formula but with a less noticeable scent and only comes to about $0.12/mL pre-tax and can be used for both face and body. But I'd still recommend this Neutrogena product to anyone looking for an effective lightweight and mattifying facial sunscreen, if price is not too much of a concern.

I recieved this product to review for the product review club (so i can't effectively rate price as i got it free) and was quite excited when I heard I was getting the chance to review it because I was about to go out and look for a new sunscreen for my face. I use daily moisturizers with spf in them but with my fair skin and freckles I always need that much more protection or a few too many minutes out in the sun and I turn lobster.

Despite it saying it's "water-light" I was still surprised at how light it actually is. the product comes out like a liquid foundation would but i found it thinner than actual liquid foundation. this was both a good and a bad thing for me. it was so thin i thought it should almost belong in a spray bottle but then that doesnt really work so well for face use. I guess i'm just so use to sunscreen being in cream form for the face so it was a tad awkward to apply at first being that it was so runny.

the smell is decent...very light and barely there but still has a hint of that you're wearing sunscreen smell. I liked it once it was on and it kept me from burning but although it didnt really feel greasy on, i found that my face looked too shiny for my liking and i did experience a small breakout (but im not certain it was from this yet...will update the review if i discover otherwise after more testing).

    so review....
Pros: light weight so it can easily be layered with makeup without feeling like you've got tons on, high spf rating, light smell, did it's job as i didnt burn, i got it free to try

Cons: it's so thin i was thrown off at first, made me look a little shiney, had a small breakout but still unsure if it was from this product or not

I'm still not sure I would go out and purchase this item myself yet or not but it's a possibility as there are only so many face specific products out there and i did like the higher spf factor this Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Water-Light had to offer. I will continue to use and test and update the review if I change my opinion.

I decided to test out this product out on a week-long camping trip to Killbear Provincial Park - figured THIS would be the true test to see how well it will actually work. Immediately, I loved the way the product felt on - it was truly lightweight and easy to absorb into the skin. I did not have any issues as I would normally with sunscreen leaving behind streaky white marks. I did find myself reapplying more frequently as I couldn't feel the product "on" my face as I normally do with regular sunscreen. After a week long test, it fared well against regular sunscreens (which I used on my body) and I found myself picking it up to use on my face because of its ability to absorb into the skin. After the Killbear experience, I decided to use it in conjunction with my makeup to test out if the product would be able to withstand daily use. Sure enough, it wasn't oily or greasy and felt like a fantastic base to apply make up. I was so happy that it didn't diminish the longevity of my makeup that by the end of the first day, I was convinced that I should be using it daily.

I recently started using moisturizers with sunscreen built in to protect the face from premature aging and I must say that this product does the trick. I liked that it was sheer, absorbed quickly and has SPF 45. I apply it after my regular moisturizer and feel protected all day long. Would definitely recommend trying it.
