This review is in regards to Pampers Swaddlers in newborn size. My son was born on November 5, at 7lb1oz, and the hospital provided Pampers Swaddlers in newborn size for him. He went down to 6lb9oz, and is now at 7lb6oz. He was 19.5" at birth and is now about 20.5".
I wish the Pampers Swaddlers had had the umbilical cord area cut out. They weren't, so I had to be careful and fold them down beneath it. His cord fell off at 4 days, and ensuring that the scab didn't get ripped off while diapering him was not fun.
When he had his first meconium poos, the Swaddlers absorbed some of it into it, but for the most part just kind of pulled the stickiness away from his skin.
In the first few days his poos were the result of being supplemented with formula. The poos were extremely smelly, infrequent, and massive. The diaper contained all of it without an issue, and held well around his legs.
Now he is only breast-fed, and the poos he takes are smaller and more frequent, but the diapers are very absorbent and mostly leaky proof. Out of the box of 88 diapers, and the 40 jumbo pack, we had 4 diapers that leaked pee and 1 that had a small amount of poo leak out the leg.
The wetness indicator has been extremely handy, but it does not always work! Sometimes his diaper is completely soiled, and the wetness indicator remains yellow. Sometimes there is the tiniest smudge of poo from a slightly wet fart, and it turns vibrant blue! Would be happier if the strip was consistent.
I have also used Huggies Little Snugglers, but couldn't tell you which I prefer as they both have their strong points!
Pampers Swaddlers are not as stretchy as Huggies Little Snugglers.
Pampers Swaddlers fit snugger than Huggies Little Snugglers.
Pampers Swaddlers tabs are sticky enough to keep the diaper on, but don't hurt the baby's skin if it accidentally touches it (due to flailing baby legs when trying to put the diaper on).
Pampers Swaddlers have Cookie Monster on them, and that is awesome.
Pampers Swaddlers feel more like plastic, and are less soft.
Pampers Swaddlers are more expensive per diaper, but worth every penny.
Pampers Swaddlers are great for containing leaks.
Pampers Swaddlers wetness indicator is incredibly useful, when it works.
Pampers Swaddlers do not have a stereotypical diaper smell.
Pampers Swaddlers do not have the umbilical cord cut-out.
We are going to try sizing him up to 1s once we finish the jumbo pack of newborns we have. The newborn size Pampers Swaddlers are starting to get too small on him, but the Huggies Little Snugglers still fit.
So I perfer pampers overall in all stages as it holds more. The swaddlers are so soft, and my son doesn't react to the like my daughter did. The only down side to these was there was no notch cut out for the cord stub. I had to roll the front down so that it wouldnt rub. Oh and I am glad to see the larger sizes coming out in the swaddlers.
I was very excited when pampers decided to make swaddlers for the larger size. I used them when my baby was smaller and loved them. I have tried other brands and they just didn't compare. I really enjoy the wetness indicator stripe, I like the softness of the outer layers of the diaper. They fit my son better than the other brands. He leaks through the competitors brands, In swaddlers he wakes up with his clothing still dry unlike the other brands where he is litterally soaked.
I love these diapers I only use pampers for my kids as Huggies seam to turn their bums into a giant blister. The swaddlers are so soft and comfortable. I only get diaper rash when it is caused by something like teething. The pee indication line is genius especially when the baby is new born and has very little pee. It helped my husband tremendously. Even now that our daughter is 5months old my husband still has to use it, he can't seem to figure out that girls pee in a diff spot than boys do. Mi am so happy that they have started making these is bigger sizes.
I love the wetness indicator on these diapers, but I have found that my kids got diaper rashes more frequently in these then in other brands. They do not seem to keep them as dry as they claim, and my daughter is extremely sensitive to being wet.
I've been using these diapers for 6 months now and they have been great! I especially like the yellow strip that turns blue when baby has peed.
They are the best of all diapers we have tried.they are soft and extremely absorbent.all the other diapers we tried we ended up with explosions everywhere and never do with these.
