Secret daughter is a story told by different characters per chapters. The writer made the characters unique enough that even if you didn't read the chapter's title (which is the name of the character) you would know who you reading about.

The story is about a husband and wife that are not able to conceive on their own and adopt a baby girl from an orphanage in India. India is where the husband is from and his family still resides there. The baby girl is not even a few days old and already has a treacherous history that her new parents save her from. When she is growing she yearns for her family history and of her real parents but her adopted parents keep her sheltered, scared they may lose her. The young girl grows up in this novel and makes a trip to india to find her father's family.

The other parts of the story touch on her biological parents and their hardships in India, and also of the Husband's parents and the Indian traditions that they uphold.

The trip across the world seemingly divides the family, but curiously enough brings about changes and new beginnings that you don't see coming.

This story made me sad, it made me happy and it made me miss my mom :)

Not a challenging read, a real page turner! I am sure some people would disagree and this paints all adopting family the same, as they are often portrayed as dysfunctional, but this is not a story of anger, it's of discovery.

Check this out if you feel like reading about another world!
