Twilight by Stephenie Meyer Reviews
#4 in Books

Description

Isabella Swan's move to Forks, a small, perpetually rainy town in Washington, could have been the most boring move she ever made. But once she meets the mysterious and alluring Edward Cullen, Isabella's life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn. This is the the 1st book in the Twilight Saga.

This book I got to read on the plane. I had the book read in a few nights, and I am now reading the series. They are interesting and full of romance but not dirty romance innocent true romance.

Hmm, without giving away too much, I think I might be JUST outside the target age range. It's a fun guilty pleasure kind of read, but I wouldn't buy it. Borrow it from a friend or get it at the library. I'm not itching to read the sequel unless I can get my hands on it at a discount.

Ahhh,.... young, immortal love. I read this book, along with all the others in the series because when there is so much hype about something, it feels almost negligent not to be in on it. I'm a fan of vampire stories and the supernatural in general as well, so it was a natural read for me. I liked the over all theme of the book, although it was pretty predictable and Bella is an annoying drama queen. Having said that, it was like mind crack and I couldn't wait to read the next one. It sucked me in even though at times I was rolling my eyes. The reason it grabs you though isn't because of Bella and Edward's story so much as it is about everyone's story. I wanted to learn more about the Cullen's in general, not just the two main characters. By reading the series you get to glimpse into everyone's past and see how all the peices of this family fit together.
The other cool thing about this book is that everyone seems to be reading it within a massive age gap. I can sit down with my neice and totally be in the loop about La Push and what I think Bella should do.

However if you are a Twilight junkie, head to Stephanie Meyer's webpage and read Midnight Sun. This is Twilight re-written from Edward's point of view and is a far better version of the story. The first 250ish pages are available to read off the webpage, but the book to this date isn't finsihed. (long story made shorter- someone leaked a draft of the book to the internet and she stopped writing it, but posted what she did have online so her fans could read it and it wasn't a total waste.)

Go ahead... I officially give you permission to get swept up in Twilight mania for the entertainment factor alone. WIll this book make you a better person or make you see the world in a different light? Probably not... but it is a great read for a vacation or a weekend spent in the hammock ignoring the dishes.

Ok so I read this. I'm still not sure what to think of it. On one hand, I like the idea of the story and some parts of it are great and very interesting, but on the other, Bella is annoying (enough with the falling down already!), and Edward is a stalker. Think about it. If someone followed you everywhere you went, eavesdropped on all of your conversations and got possessive and jealous if you so much as talked to another boy, then appeared out of thin air wherever you were - and sort of wanted to kill you - would you be in love? Meyer seems to suggest you should be so long as he is good looking enough.

Despite that I did read the whole book and enjoyed it enough that I will see the movie. I agree with Slightly Devious that it's no Harry Potter, but it is fun to read.

First off, I just want to disagree with a lot of what I'd originally heard about these books - they are NOT better than the Harry Potter series by far, but they are an enjoyable read.

Don't expect better, just let yourself get into the story. If possible, read the book before seeing the film.
