The twilight series was just ok to me. It wasn't all that fantastic to me. I was glad I borrowed the books and didn't buy them because I would never read them again.
I enjoyed reading these books. I would not say it is great literature, but it is worth the time. I did not want to read it at first (too popular), but then it was good. Sweet and easy to read, girly.
When I first read this series, I have to admit I was OBSESSED. I was in high school, and it was the perfect fantasy love story for me at the time. When I re-read it a few years later, I had to admit it was quite poorly written, and didn't have the same effect on me like when I first read it. Though the movies made for good eye candy, I think this is something that will be out of fad soon. (Though watching the riff-track movies with my book club made for an awesome night!)
I bought this at an airport with a delayed flight and found this book to be nothing more than pulp fiction like when you eat chips out of boredom. Pathetic storyline and character development, this book is for 14 year olds.
Definitely not the best written series out there, but great for a mind cleanse - very easy quick read and just soap opera-y enough to keep my attention. Normally I go for text books, true crime and forensic dramas, so this is truly a rare occasion that I read books such as Twilight.
I read the series before my daughter did to make sure they were suitable for her to read. They are good for the audience they are intended for, she was 11 when she read it and enjoyed the story line. And at her age everyone loves vampires lol.
I enjoyed the first book even thought it was corny - but the last 3 (especially the 4th) just highlight the poor writing skills.
Reading Twilight is like eating a tub of ice cream. You shouldn't really do it. It'll make you sick but it tastes so good.
This book was appealing because it had a relatable character (Bella) and it was an easy read however it lacked substance. The writing was style was overly simplistic. It was simple story telling. Not a great literary work, more of a guilty pleasure. It is not worth reading a second time.
