Good texture, but the taste is 'fake'
I love the #BettyCrocker brand and I've tried nearly every one of their frosting/cake mix products and they're pretty 'reliable.' I've even tried several of the whipped frostings before, but recently I think they perhaps changed the recipe, because now it just tastes quite awful, 'fake,' and manufactured. You can actually taste more of the additives than actual frosting ingredients. It's rather unpleasant. I'll go back to the good ol' originals!
Vanilla Frosting With Artificial Cream Cheese Hint In Taste
I bought a can of this from Wal Mart for just under $2. One can is enough to frost a double layered 9 inch cake, from my experience. Personally, I don't see much of a difference between the texture of the whipped and the regular, so I buy whichever I find. The frosting spreads on easily and doesn't have any clumps, which can be a frequent problem in my homemade cream cheese icing. This frosting is extremely sweet and has a very artificial taste. It tastes like Belly Crocker vanilla frosting, which I like, with a chemically cream cheese after taste. For those looking for a strong cream cheese taste that isn't artificial or overly sweet, I'd stay away.
Good frosting but no cream cheese flavor
I was baking a cake for a friend who loves cream cheese. I decided to try this frosting because generally speaking my cream cheese frosting came out clumpy and I had no time to go out and buy all the ingredients again. This frosting was rich, creamy and thick. The downfall though was it did not taste anything like cream cheese. It has a vanilla flavor. You can purchase a jar of this icing from Walmart for $2 and it can frost a 9 inch cake easily. I would not buy this icing if you want a real cream cheese flavor in a dessert or on a carrot cake.
