Finding Dory is the sequel to the 2003 Pixar Animation Finding Nemo and is set 1 year after Marlin and Dory’s grand adventure across the ocean to save Nemo. It took them 10 years to announce a sequel for Finding Nemo and another 3 years for Finding Dory to finally be ready for release.

Finding Dory follows our favourite blue tang, Dory, as she regains memories of her parents and her childhood, and she begins her journey to find her family. I want to say that Finding Dory was equally as good as Finding Nemo and although it was still adorable and humorous, I’m not sure if I would say that it’s equally as funny. I found Finding Dory to be more heartbreaking, but mostly more joyous. Dory finding her parents is based solely on her ability to remember the love and guidance they gave her before she was lost. The fact that Dory fits into a sippy cup means that she is a lot smaller than I thought she was.

The voice cast was wonderful. Of course Ellen DeGeneres was back as Dory, Albert Brooks reprises his role as Marlin, and they were joined by Eugene Levy and Diane Keaton as Dory’s parents, Ty Burrell as Bailey the beluga whale and Ed O’Neill as Hank, the grumpy septopus that becomes a member of Dory’s growing family. The script and plot were cleverly written and developed; tying everything together in a wonderfully touching way.

If anyone tries to tell you that Dory dies, that person is a liar and you should never trust them again.
