Cute

We were given the Disney Junior Firebuds Violet & Axl toy from @spinmaster and @thisisbutterly in exchange for our honest opinion.
It seemed kind of cute. It’s a little ambulance and when you press the figure into it, the eyes are supposed to go up. The eyes barely move on this one though. It wasn’t a favourite in this house the way some of the other Spinmaster toys have been. It didn’t really hold my sons attention and he hadn’t bothered with it too much even when I bring it out. It also dropped once and part of the side is pushed in already, so it doesn’t seem very durable.
It’s a cute toy, but I personally wouldn’t buy another figure set of this one.

Love the packaging and the diversity

I admit going into this I had no idea this show existed. Disney's kids properties are commercial fests to begin with, so I was avoiding them on the whole. Upon opening the box, I'm glad that Spinmaster is taking steps to be more eco-friendly. The bag that kept the figurine from scratching the vehicle (and vice versa) was plain kraft paper. YAY!! I loved that the character included was diverse --awesome! I'm excited to see that there's a corresponding firetruck and police car with their own diverse characters (I think Bo can pass as either olive-skinned Caucasian/Hispanic??) advertised on the packaging. That's neat, too. Everyone should be represented! OK, enough of that. Now about the toy itself... this is the lightest, cheapest plastic I've ever come across. Pressing on the windows lightly, I feel it's about to give in a little bit so it's not very sturdy. I'm glad it doesn't need batteries, but the only thing it does (besides roll) is that when you put the figurine in the vehicle, the eyes of the vehicle jiggle around. It's funny and cute but that isn't something that will draw my kids' attention for long. They need something a little bit more interactive than that. As well, this toy is marketed to kids 3+, and the spoiler wing detail at the top of the vehicle is possibly an eye accident waiting to happen. I would suggest they take a page out of a certain leading brick toy company... sharp parts like the tail on a dog figurine are made out of soft, rubbery material that flexes a lot. If it makes contact with an eye, will it still irritate/cause soreness? Yes. But at least it isn't flimsy but sharp plastic that could possibly cut.

Geared for toddlers

We were very excited to receive the Disney Firebuds truck and doll in the mail although we had never heard of the show before we liked the look of the toy. We did find however that it was difficult to keep the person attached to the truck and there wasn't enough action in the truck itself or any sound to keep my children engaged longer than a few minutes.
