Description

Tropical Traditions Organic Raw Honey comes from the frontier areas of Canada, and is only harvested during a 6-week period in the summer. Tropical Traditions is the exclusive source of this premium organic honey in the U.S. Most commercial honeys available on the market today come from bee farms, where the bees are controlled within a certain area and get their pollen from usually only one kind of flower. Many of the plants that produce these flowers (clover, orange blossom, etc.) are grown with pesticides and fertilizers as well. In addition, almost all honeys on the market are pasteurized in high heat and filtered, removing many of the beneficial nutrients and enzymes. Tropical Traditions Organic Raw Honey has not been subjected to the heat of processing, only warmed enough to flow (same temperatures the honey would see inside the hive). It contains live yeast and enzymes, because it has not been processed. It also contains pollen because it has not been filtered-merely screened. In order for honey to be certified organic, the beehives must be placed in isolated areas miles from the dense population, industry, traffic congestion, and farm fields treated with chemicals and landfills. Finding area which can be certified organic is extremely difficult, which is why there are so few certified organic honeys on the market. Tropical Traditions sources its honey from hives in the wild frontier areas of Canada. These regions are a rich source of wild vegetation that produce some of the finest honey in the world. The USDA and Canadian Organic Certification implies a rigorous set of standards and conditions that must be adhered to by both the producer (beekeeper) and the packager. Try some, and we think you'll agree that there is no finer honey in North America! Raw, organic, Canadian honey, available exclusively in the US through Tropical Traditions.

I agree with everyone here - natural honey is not only delicious and soothing, but also makes the perfect mask or cleanser for your skin. It definitely works wonders on my oily/combination skin. I just splash my face with warm water and then massage a dab of honey all over and let it sit for a minute (sometimes a few). I rinse again with lukewarm water and get soft, clean skin WITHOUT any drying or irritation.

**If you're wearing makeup you might want to gently cleanse your face before using the honey, in my opinion it probably wouldn't dissolve foundation/mascara/etc very well**

Of course, honey is a good home remedy for colds, sore throats, etc - I mix some into whatever tea I'm drinking and it always seems to help a bit. It reminds me of being a kid too, my mum always made us pb & honey sandwiches, with honey out of those cute plastic bear bottles :P Anyways it is great stuff, however you use it.

Raw honey is delicious and nutritious! I have been looking into using honey for face masks because I recently have had a few zits crop up. It is absolutely amazing at blasting them back to oil-Hell! After a successful masque I pour myself a cup of honey-sweetened tea and celebrate. Since my honey-fueled diet and beauty routine I have been looking and feeling amazing!

I love honey in my lemon water, but even better on my face. I use honey as a mask, especially during the winter time. I leave it on my face for about 15 minutes, then rinse off with warm water. It helps keep my face moisturized and soft, which is good in the cold winters. I also mix a bit of honey (just estimate) with some brown sugar, and use it on my lips as a lip scrub. It helps exfoliate all the dead skin cells away on my lips, and leave my lips soft and smooth, which helps my lip products (lipstick) go on better. : )

I eat honey a lot (on toast or with peanut butter) but I agree that it's a great beauty product as well! My secret use of honey is mixing it with sugar to make a great lip exfoliator....it works so well, moisturizes your lips and scrubs off all the dry skin so you have smooth lips to put chapstick onto...

I too, love honey... especially for beauty purposes.
My secret recipe would be the one where I smash a copule of non coated aspirins, a few tablets of zinc and i mix honey. I apply it to my face and leave it on for about 20 mins. When I wash it off, I make sure I rub the mixture around my face for a mechanical exfolation. It`s the most amazing mask ever.
My other favourite would be the one where I use fresh yeast (I`ve used powdered organic as well) with a few drops of warm milk and honey. Sometimes i just mixx yeat and honey, apply it to clean damp face, leave on for 20 mins wash off. The most amazing glow results.
oh I could go on forever. Honey is so versatile...

I use honey for everything, a hair wash, face mask, face wash, body rinse. I esp. use a honey nutmeg mask to fade away my acne scars. The nutmeg works as a scrub and my skin is soft and glowing Afterwards :)

I have to totally agree with you guys. Honey is an amazing beauty product. I used to swear by it and often made eggwhite and honey masks. My skin always looked really good and people would ask me what I used. The last couple of years I haven't used it as often as things just got really busy and it kind of fell out of my beauty routine, but since a bunch of you started talking about it, I've started using honey every day to cleanse my face over the last 10 days. My skin is combination, very sensitive and prone to breakouts in the chin area but it is improving quite a bit.

I make my face slightly damp (warm water, then brief towel dry), spread on a layer of creamed no name brand honey (the hard stuff, not the runny kind), leave on for 5 minutes then massage into my skin with small circular motions. I find it is best to remove with a warm clean washcloth.

My skin is improving dramatically. It even has a healthier glow. It's funny that a $5 tub of honey can last for months and get better results than an expensive beauty product loaded with chemicals. In conjunction, I've started using 100% pure teatree oil (any brand) to spot treat my breakouts and am finding that it really works at reducing the life of the zit.

I highly recommend you try this out and see for yourself.

Woah! Honey! This stuff is soooo awesome as a beauty product! Made curious by Scents of Peace's recommendation and then samuraiya's fab review, I had to put honey to the test. I was unsure how store bought honey would do since previous suggestions indicated raw, less processed honey. But I went for it anyway. Once daily, for 2 weeks I cleaned my face w/ Trader Joe's honey (probably somewhere b/t farmer's market honey and regular grocery store honey). The results are VERY noticeable. I have oily T-zone skin that is uber prone to break outs. Honey has not prevented break outs. However, b/c it is anti-microbial, pimples clear up in record time. Also, b/c honey is a humectant, my skin is less oily. I interpret this as the honey leaves my skin moist which doesn't require my skin to produce excess oil to moisturize the skin. Go honey!

I'm going to try this on my face later as a beauty product.

I love this stuff as a food product! I should have been born a queen bee.

Honey + Hot Water = Quick Hot Drink.
Honey + Hot Water + Lemon = Quick Throat Soothing Drink.
Honey + Peanut Butter = Great Bread Spread.
Honey + Mustard = Yummy Turkey Topping.
Honey + Tea = Natural Sweetened Tea.

    You get the idea...

Honey straight from the jar and onto the face - are you kidding!? You may wonder. But really, it works!!! Honey has become a popular ingredient in natural skincare products for its many benefits. It's an anti-microbial agent (it deters bacterial growth). It's a humectant, which means that it helps to attract and retain water, thus, making the skin very very soft. There are even natural anti-oxidant properties in honey! I've been using honey as a facial scrub for a week now, after Scents of Peace gave me the tip. I felt a pretty dramatic improvement even after the first try. The sugar crystals in the honey acts as an exfoliator while the honey itself restores moisture and makes the skin so so soft. Somehow, my face gets less oily too, which is a total plus for oily skin people. I'm not exaggerating when I say that it's just as good as the NeoStrata at home micro-dermabrasion kit, which was my go-to product when I want soft soft skin. Honey is actually way better for the price and also for the fact that it's completely natural. I use raw honey, which is an unprocessed variety that retains more nutrients and can be found in most farmers' markets. It's less runny and has more sugar crystals, making it more effective as a scrub. Best of all, it is cheap and can be found in everyone's pantry. If it's good enough for Cleopatra - I say, SWEET!
