Unfortunately I find that this mascara leaves me with smudges and flaking underneath my eyes only after a few hours. It doesn't have the staying power either.

I use this brand of mascara the most. I find that it does not clump and seems to stay fresh for months. I use only black so I am unfamiliar with other colors. Overall I am happy with this product. Price is very reasonable.

I hated this mascara! I was so excited to try it out because its apparently every makeup artists go to mascara. I however didn't have any luck with it. It made my lashes to long and look fake, definitly the spider eyes.

I think the formula is a little bit to runny. It took forever to dry and just didn't do anything for my lashes. I'll definitly be sticking to my covergirl lash blash.

The Maybelline Great Lash Mascara has been featured in so many magazines and has constantly been rated as one of the best mascaras out there. In my opinion, this mascara is so overrated and overhyped. I used to buy this brand just because I read so many good things about it so it was the first mascara I had ever purchased and I really didn't know much about other types yet. When you first apply it (i.e., when the product is fresh and still fairly new) it goes on very well and deposits a good amount of mascara on the lashes. However, after a few uses, I found that it started to get very clumpy and I really needed to wiggle the wand in order for it to evenly coat every lash. I always had to comb through the lashes afterwards because they would all stick together. I purchased the waterproof version and found it to be really flaky and irritating at the end of the day and I always ended up having "raccoon" eyes by the end of the evening. This might be great for makeup artists who are working on photoshoots and are at hand to touch up any mishaps with the makeup, but for the everyday woman who needs to apply this on her own, I do not recommend this mascara. Now that I've found better mascaras that deliver what they promise to achieve, I walk right past this brand and won't be purchasing it again.

I have used Maybelline Great Lash since I first started wearing make-up. The quick math...24 years, bought every three months at an estimated $5.00 per bottle = $480.00 that I have spent on this product.

The PROBLEM...over the past couple of years the product seems to go bad much faster than it did years ago. Is this being done on purpose to make the consumer purchase the product more frequently???
A little secret the manufacture is not sharing?

On Monday, November 30/09 I stopped at CVS to purchase a bottle. When I arrived at work and opened it...IT STUNK. I returned it that night on my way home. Heck yeah...it is my five bucks.

WalMart seems to always be sold out of the Black...so you would think their supply would be fresher...it only last me maybe 1.5 - 2 months. I store it out of the light and in a cool dry place, and always have.

What is going on???
I have come to the point that I am going to start shopping around and take a "Girlfriend Poll" to get information about other mascara's and maybe give them a try. So what if it might cost a bit more...if the product works and have a better shelf life...don't cha' think it is worth it in the long run?

Future quick math...if I wear mascara for another 20 years (6 bottles per year) at $6.00 per bottle, that's 120 bottles that equals $720.00.

Hi everyone! Today I’m going to be reviewing Maybelline’s Great Lash Mascara BIG. I saw this mascara advertised everywhere and I must admit, the picture in the ads is pretty cool (see the picture above). I mean, look at that wand. It’s humongous. My sister and I were at Walmart when the Maybelline promo girl spots us in the makeup area, and takes out of our cart all the products we had picked up and replaces them with similar Maybelline products. How rude is that? We ended up not taking any of the products she was trying to force on us, except,w ell… the mascara. We got one each. My sister looked at the picture in the package and said “Oh, that’s a pretty wand! It’s pink and green!”. I was excited at the big, green and pink want until I got home and noticed -”Oh yeah, the wand is actually pitch black since it comes inside the mascara tube”.

Moving on… the wand colors weren’t that disappointing. I got this mascara in “very black” and I have to give the product props in terms of pigmentation: it is an amazingly beautiful, rich black. I’m not used to wands as big as this one, so when I was going to apply the mascara it did feel a bit weird and uncomfortable at first, but nothing unbearable. The size does make it somewhat hard to reach the inner corner lashes, and applying it on your lower lashes must be done very carefully especially if you’re like me, who doesn’t have a lot of lashes down there.

My upper lashes are very long but I don’t have a lot of them, so what I look for in a mascara is fullness more than length. I was able to lengthen my lashes quite a lot creating a dramatic look, and it becomes more dramatic as you add coats. It is a very buildable mascara as it promises. This mascara, however, fails to separate my lashes. Like I said, I don’t have a lot of lashes – and what this mascara does, is it groups my lashes together. In a video review I saw for this product someone said it looked like you have “five fat lashes” or something. I was very skeptical, I thought “that can’t be!” – but I’m telling you… it’s true. At least for my ungenerous amount of lashes, it just groups them together in like five fat chunks. I’ve tried curling them, not curling them, wiggling the wand, wiggling it a lot, not wiggling at all… I always get the same results. It’s such a shame, I actually like everything else about this product except this. I rarely use it anymore, since it makes my eyes look strange, especially if I wear it during the day. You know, like if I had cartoon lashes. I haven’t tried using this mascara for a night look, maybe it wouldn’t be so bad if you have dark eye makeup on.

This is not waterproof mascara. As for removing, I simply use oil-free makeup-remover towelettes and it comes right off. In conclusion, I don’t hate the this Great Lash Mascara BIG, but it doesn’t work for my long-but-sparse lashes. I would really like to hear from someone with abundant lashes who has tried it, so that I know how it works for you! By the way, this product was around $7.00 for 0.34 FL OZ.

This seems to be a hit-or-miss mascara; people either love it or hate it. What I like about Great Lash is that you only need one or two swipes to get really dark, separated, clump-free lashes. However, it doesn't look good for long--it smudges off in a couple of hours. And when it gets under my eyes, it's really hard to remove--I usually have to rub to get it off my skin. It makes my lashes feel really heavy, and when I accidentally touch them a couple hours later, it feels like they haven't even dried yet! So basically, this mascara is just a lot of heavy, wet build-up on your lashes. But with the great drugstore price, I'd say it's worth a try to see if it will work for you.

If I had just one word to describe this mascara it would be... CRAP! No wait... maybe the word would be cheap and I don't mean just the price. I bought this junk because I've heard tons of good about it. I was so disapointed with it!!! A few months later I saw it listed under a magizine's Top 10 list and decided to give it another try. Afterall, it's possible that the first one I bought was an old tube, or had a bad upbringing.. who knows. However the second tube was as crappy as the first. At least it is consistant in its craptastiness.

Things that were wrong:
1. clumping!!!
2. messy!! see #1.
3. smudged, flaked, and was ignorant to work with in general.

I also agree with one of the other reviewers when she mentioned that it is ok at making lashes dark, but don't expect it to give you length or volume.

So sad! I wanna be a a believer! But mostly I just want my money back. :-/

I like to consider myself a conoseur(sp?) of mascaras, haha, I buy new ones all the time, SOOO, after being told that this is my aunt's go to mascara that shes been using for 10 years I thought wow, I better try this. Well, I feel sorry that she thinks this mascara is good, becaue there are waYY better out there. I found the consistency too watery, and it smells weird. It doesn't give you "great" lashes, just regular everyday lashes. To clumpy, dries quickly, and sure its cheap, but its not worth the money anyways.

When I was over in England this summer and my luggage got lost I bought a tube of this, not necessarily because I had ever tried it before but because it was the only brand I recognized in the drug store and I was strapped for cash because I was having to stock up on essentials. I find that although the price is great, it clumps and dries out very fast and I found it looking a little un-natural. If I had to do it over again, I would have spent the extra money and gotten a better quality that probably would have saved me in the long run.
