Avoid this skincare line at all costs!

When I was a teenager, I struggled with moderate/ severe acne and found that many drugstore products didn’t work for me. Out of desperation, I tried this product as the advertisements and reviews that I read online sounded convincing and had high hopes for this product line. Unfortunately, I ended up being extremely upset with the results. At the time, I knew that my skin was on the more sensitive side, but I didn’t realize how sensitive my skin truly was until I tried these products. Within a week of trying these products, I ended up with severe chemical burns on my face! When people saw me, they thought that I got a really bad sunburn as my face looked red as a lobster! To make matters worse, my face was so burnt to the point that even putting on aloe Vera on my skin was painful! I was so upset by this because as a teenager who was already self-conscious about her acne, going to school with a face covering chemical burn just made me feel worse about myself. Once my skin recovered 3 weeks later (following a treatment regimen from my doctor), I tried the Clinique Acne Solutions line and have never looked back since! There are so many other acne products you can use, avoid this chemical catastrophe at all costs!

*If I could give this product zero stars I would. I am aware that some people have used these products and experienced a positive outcome with them, however my reaction to these products was so extremely negative (as I needed to seek medical advice) that I have no reason to say anything positive about this skin care line.

With all the hype on this product for many years I got it and it actually made my skin worse. Big and deeper pimples on my face, which also made my skin super dry. Ultimately I returned the product which I had no issues thankfully because it was not cheap

Terrible

This product acts almost like a steroid to the skin. Works wonders while you’re on it but the minute you forget to use it or run out your skin gets worse than before

Did not work

I've had acne for 14 years of my life (so far) so I have tried a lot of acne products. Some things helped my acne and some didn't. Proactive certainly did not! It was very drying and irritating to my skin. It did not improve the condition of my skin, in fact it aggrevated it more by drying it out.

So bad for your skin! Stripped the paint off my walls!

I used this when my acne was bad because I was sold on the infomercials. I used this set for about a year, and all it did was dry out my skin and make it very red (I use Lush products now btw, it rescued my skin). Also, I noticed little spots of paint stripping off my walls around my sink, I guess from splashing off my face wash the spray would land on the wall. The paint was coming right off! Thats when I knew I had to stop using this product. I repainted, switched to lush and my face and walls are healthy and happy again!

Did not like my skin

As a teen i suffered with really bad acne. I was desperate to find a solution to make it go away, friends recommended that i try proactive. I gave it a try, i was so disappointed as it did not make my acne any better. It in fact made my skin worse. I know many people have had success, unfortante for me this was not the case.

This product was great in my teen years and cleared up my skin nicely. However I lived somewhere where I couldn't get it in store and found I had to stop and start a few times. The more I used the product the less it worked. It actually ruined my skin. It has thinned it and it has become more sensitive to the point where I am now on a prescription because absolutely nothing will fix the issue. I didn't think anything of it until talking with others that had the same problems with proactiv.
I even tried thier super expensive rodan and fields line and it didn't work at all and made my skin feel weird.
I wouldn't waste your money. Find something less invasive

I tried proactiv on and off throughout my teen years and never experienced any of the amazing transformations that they claim to have. It is really expensive and I hardly saw any change

I have tried proactiv on three separate occasions. It does not work for me. In fact my skin has gotten worse each time I've tried it. I know that they say it works for everyone but that simply isn't true. I would not purchase this product again and I wouldn't use it again even if it was given to me.

Used this as a teenager to try and beat hormonal acne. Although my skin reacts well to benzoyl peroxide, these products just didn't work for my skin. I spent a lot of money on these products hoping my skin would just get better but if anything, it just became more irritated. The cleanser has a slight exfoliant in it which was too irritating for my sensitive skin and the toner was extremely drying and made my skin burn. I tried these products even after promises of "new formulas" with the same results. The worst part was the awful sulfur smell that these products have that actually linger on the skin.
