This book is phenomenal. Words cannot describe how much I loved it. There is really nothing I can say that will really do it any justice – but I’m going to try – you really have to experience it for yourself. You know that feeling when you watch a really moving or thought provoking movie and it stays with you for several days (or weeks or months, or forever…) afterward? It affects you in such a profound way that you are unable to think of much else? That is exactly how I feel about this book. The story is so moving, the characters so lovable, the plot so rich that I am still completely engulfed in it more than a week after finishing reading. Neiffenegger’s ability to weave such a complex and interesting plot so seamlessly is simply remarkable. It is simultaneously heart-warming and heart-wrenching. This is without a doubt THE best book I have ever read. I will MOST CERTAINLY read it again (and again and again...) I cannot possibly recommend it highly enough.

(Also a sidenote: it is $22 CDN for the paperback which I thought was quite a lot, but once I bought it, I was absolutely NOT sorry that I did. GO BUY IT … it’s a must read!!!)

This is my FAVOURITE book. It's happy and sad at the same time. This is such a great love story, and as I'm reading books I don't usually feel much emotion in me to the actual book. This one was great at making me feel happy for them, feeling sad for them... and even hopeful at times! This is truly an amazing book. I love love love it!

Wow! What can I say but echo what other reviewers have mentioned?

This story is unique, engrossing, well written, sad and happy - everything a book should be. Perhaps a little predictable, but truly - aren't they all?

I was shocked to learn that this is Audrey Niffenegger's first novel. Wonderful character development and a rich plot without trying so hard to sound wordsy and overly metaphorical like an English Lit professor - a trap I find many authors fall into these days.

If I had one critique, it would be that the story could have been pared down a little. The plot and subplots would have been just as well serviced with 50 or 100 pages less... which is not to say I didn't enjoy them!

I borrowed this from the library, but I will certainly pick it up in the near future to keep. I'm so excited to hear about Rachel McAdam and Eric Bana! Two of my favorite actors and I can only imagine how amazing that movie will be. :)

I couldn't agree more with these other reviews. This is easliy one of the best books I have ever read! I too was crying like a baby at the end of the book! Any writing that can move you that much is well worth a read!

I was so touched by the relationships in the book I wanted to be part of them. The love between Clare and Henry is so beautiful! I can only hope to find love that strong. I do not, however, hope to find a time-travelling boyfriend/husband!!

I recommend that you do not read the wikipedia description, it gives away a lot of the plot! Read this book with no expectations and enjoy it for what it is; a beautiful story about love!

I can't wait for the movie to come out! It stars Rachel McAdams and Eric Bana. There doesn't seem to be an official release date! FYI it was filmed here in Toronto! :)

    Happy reading ladies!!

Let me start by saying that this is my favourite book ever. It is so easy to fall in love with each of the characters. It was difficult to start, as i often found myself flipping to the beginning of the chapter to find out who was talking at the time, and where in time they were. I'm surprised it's not bigger of a hit than it is. I can only hope that when the movie comes out later this year, it's popularity will rise too.
It's such a touching love story. I've never in my life found myself so attached to fictional characters, and so envious of the chemistry between them. I finished this book on a bus and was absolutely bawling my eyes out (definitely got stared at). Not only due to the ending, but due to my inability to cope with the fact that the best book I've ever read was ending. I recommend this to any girl who thinks that Twilight is a good love story. I've read all four of those books, and they don't even touch this. It reaches into the realm of scifi while still remaining believable, which is quite a feat. Oh man, I'm going to go read it again!

    #1 NO SPOILERS
#2 do not read what Amazon says about this book because they ruin it

Don't try to treat this book like rocket science or the bible. It is fiction, and it is almost a love story. Nothing more.

This is the best book I have ever read in my life. And I've read a lot! I got so lost in this book that as we went on our road trip and drove for 2 days I completely had no idea where or when it was in the real world. When I finished reading it, I missed the characters.

Fabulous, thought provocing, loving and tender. Great for married women who believe they have found their true match in life.

PLOT without spoilers: This guy has a made up condition that makes him spontaneously time travel. He does not know where or when he will show up, and he can't take anything with him, so he arrives naked. Part of the book is from his point of view. Part of it is from the POV of his wife - imagine waking up at 2am and your husband is missing from next to you in bed, and he might be in 1890 England or 1972 New York City!

I'm sure it will be a movie soon.
