I love this lip balm. It is probably my favourite and always in my bag. It feels sort of like Vaseline but it glides on easily and has SPF which I think is a must nowadays. There are also flavoured ones but I prefer this original. It helps keep my lips soft for everyday use and I always make sure to bring it with me on vacation. It's probably a little more pricey than most lip balms but I think it is a fair price for the quality.

Kiehl's Lip Balm #1 has A rich, thick and consistent texture, which reminds me of Vaseline (i.e. petrolatum jelly). I like that the balm is clear/colorless, and the product glides on easily, effortlessly and smoothly. This product brings instant relief to sore and dry lips without the heaviness or stickiness, and it sinks into the skin. The balm leaves lips smooth, soft, shiny and glossy. The con, there is no applicator... I strongly dislike using my fingers to apply any lip products. Another con is that the balm is a bit pricey 15 ml for $12.XX. I wish the product was higher on the SPF spectrum - it should be at least 15! Upon examining the ingredients, I discovered that the product is mostly petrolatum jelly - I could have paid a lot less and gotten more product had I purchased a tub of Vaseline.

Great for winter months and very dry, chapped lips. Goes on smooth and glossy and has a consistency like vaseline. It is on the higher end price wise but it is worth it!

Ten bucks and change for this little wonder:

Now, I've always liked the balm but I'll admit that I only pick up the scented tube here and there. I posted way back when, little did I know that this balm has healing properties.

My love for Kiehl's doesn't hold a candle to my sister's. She loves it. In fact, it may be the longest relationship she's been in. She's not going to like that joke, but it's not like she can beat me up. We don't live in the same city. Plus, I'm about to give her props.

This past Friday I woke up with a bad case of chapped lips. How bad? Ugly bad.

It's rare, but this was my third bout with the pestering condition. I'm not sure what caused it but my lips were in a lot of pain, and they looked it. I felt ugly, but I compensated by wearing a really cute outfit. Before heading out of town to Montreal, in an act of desperation, I ran to Shopper's and picked up some Blistex.
Fastforward a couple hours and I'm in Montreal. Blistex in tow. My sister sees me pull out the dark blue tub and gasps. She then does one of those rolling eye huffs. Uh oh, I know she's got something to say. So I wait for it.

"What are you doing? Is that Blistex? Don't use Blistex. It's bad for you. It's got chemicals. Stop."

I'm a little stunned. Her brows are furrowed, she's serious. I put on my puppy eyes and say, "well, what am I supposed to do...look (points to lips)...gross...". She gives me another eye roll and says, "not Blistex. Kiehl's".

Wow, that's it? Kiehl's.

I attacked her tub, until we got downtown. Then I bought my own and attacked it.

That all happened three days ago.

My chapped lips you ask? GONE. My lips are back to their natural colour and are ubersoft. Like, kiss me now soft.

My tub? I'm still attacking it.

I've used this lip balm for the past few years, and I've tried a variety of flavours including pear, mango, and mint, but I always come back to cranberry because it's a nice touch without being overbearing.

I agree with the other reviewers that it's a little more expensive and similar to vaseline, but in comparison it has a nice gloss and sheen to it that vaseline does not have.

I'll admit it, when I first tried Kiehl's this past summer I hated it. It came out of the tube as an oil and went everywhere.

That being said, I tried it again this winter and fell in love with it. My lips are no longer chapped, it goes on smooth and just a small dab goes a long way. While $9/tube seems a lot for a tube, it is definitely worth every singe penny and has become a staple in my winter care kit.

The only negative thing I have to say is that in summer, it liquefies.

I've been using Kiehl's Lip Balm #1 for 3 weeks now. I get really chapped lips in the winter and also am trying to avoid that upper lip pucker/wrinkle thing that some women have. I use it 2 -3x/day and liberally (as per instructions), I see no difference whatsoever. Goes on very light, which is nice, has SPF4 but it has only helped about 10%. I am going back to the drugstore for some Carmex.

I agree with some that the texture leaves sometime to be desired at times, but there really isn't anything better on wind chapped lips from cold weather when you still need to have a little shine. I'm particularly partial to the pear and mint scents, and they also (if anyone is looking for more versatility) generally wear well over lip stains that can sometimes be drying.
