Nestlé NOIR Mousse Delicate Dark Chocolate Reviews
#532 in Chocolate

Description

Celebrating a back to basics approach to chocolate, Nestlé Noir is like slipping into a favourite little black dress, it is something familiar and simplistic that evokes a sense of pleasure. This enjoyment can be directly related to the carefully selected exotic cocoa beans featured in the tablets from two different geographical origins – Ghana and Ecuador. More information here.

I grow week in the knees for dark chocolate, so I was really excited to try the new Nestle NOIR Mousse Delicate dark chocolate. I was very happy with the portions. It makes a delicious treat to top my summer ice-cream with. I wasn't too please with the dark chocolate though. It was too sweet for my liking and I could only taste the faint bitterness that I love after waiting a while. But to keep in mind, it is 52%. Aside from the taste, the texture was as advertised. Very very moussey and not too much of it too which was great.

The milk chocolate I found was tastier and more true to what I had hoped for and none of that grainy stuff some chocolates have.

I think if you're just looking to satisfy your little chocolate cravings, this is worth running to the store and buying.

Tasked with the difficult job of rating chocolate for the product review club, I'm pleased to report that my taste buds and palate were up to the challenge! Reviewers were asked to sample both the dark and the milk chocolate 100g versions of Nestle Noir Mousse Delicate (10 pieces per box).

    What's Advertised:
Arouse all your senses with Nestle Noir Mousse Delicate: a unique and intense dual-sensation of deliciously light dark-chocolate mousse enrobed in a shell of decadent chocolate. Shaped with the contours of your mouth in mind, each perfectly portioned piece delivers great pleasure.

SEE: the lustre of the intense dark chocolate shell
SMELL: the rich aroma of cocoa
HEAR: the soft break of the shell as you bite into it, releasing the fine dark chocolate mousse within
FEEL: the light, creamy, real mousse texture melt in your mouth
TASTE: the intense dark chocolate combined with subtle flavour of vanilla

    Repeat for continued pleasure..

    The Real Scoop:

The product is being launched at a great time, as consumers scale back on purchasing discretionary luxury goods like imported chocolate, the product fills a niche between run-of-the-mill chocolate bars and expensive $50 boxes of chocolates.

The packaging is a sleek, elegant looking box that flips open to reveal 10 chocolates that are nestled in a gold tray. There is a rich feel to the experience, which begins when you lift the gold foil away from the tray to reveal the smooth individual chocolates.

At 52% cocoa, the dark chocolate does not have the requisite bitter taste that is found is dark chocolates with higher cocoa content. The end result is a pleasing chocolate that feels like an indulgence to bite into, with light mousse inside. It is a smooth chocolate and although it does not rival chocolates from Godiva or Maison du Chocolat, it is a mass-market product that is well worth the $3.99 price point.

Of the two products, the milk chocolate mousse tastes a bit too sweet, but this dark chocolate version has a pleasing smooth taste. I imagine the purported benefits of polyphenols in the cacao as listed are negligible but it is a bonus. I would not consider this a "fine chocolate" however, it is a nice tasting chocolate at a reasonable price. As it is pre-portioned, it would make a nice little treat to share at the office.

I received this as part of the product review club as well as the milk chocolate version.
I love pretty much any type of chocolate, this is no different. The packaging is very nice, definitely sleeker than a normal box of chocolates. The harder outer shell is really creamy and barely bitter for a dark chocolate, and the sponge inside is really airy and light. The chocolates inside are quite large individually and are very satisfying. In comparison to the milk chocolate there is not much difference, the chocolate is only a little over 50% cocoa so if you really want a dark chocolate taste it isn't really going to satisfy that. It is a really nice treat and the box comes in a package of 10 chocolates which is more than other boxes of this type of chocolate come in. I really liked these chocolates, I finished them within a few days so I would of course buy them.

I received this chocolate as part of the product review club in both the Milk and Dark chocolate varieties. I was intrigued with the Mousse filling as it would be interesting to see how the different textures would affect the experience.

The quality of the chocolate is acceptable but I found the mousse to be more spongy versus airy and creamy than what I was expecting. I prefer the dark chocolate variety more. The taste is smooth and I find that the hard chocolate and mousse filling compliment each other very well making the experience very rich and satisfying. I have to admit that the chocolate is not as high quality as Lindt or Michel Cluizel but it also isn’t as pricey either.

However, the packaging is impressive. It comes in a deep set box with each chocolate in its own little compartment. And at $3.99/box, it's quite reasonable. The chocolates are rich so that you won’t be able to eat the whole box in one sitting.

It's more expensive than your typical candy bar, but the mousse makes it different and they are pre-portioned so you can just enjoy one piece at a time. I think Nestle has hit a good niche – somewhere between regular candy bars and imported brands with a price point that reflects it. And the dark chocolate variety does taste rich and smooth like some of the higher end brands. I would definitely recommend it.

I got my Nestle NOIR Mousse Delicate Chocolates today. I just had to try them both as I am a chocoholic!!
I usually don't buy the dark chocolate as I find it too bitter, but this Nestle Noir dark chocolate was actually really nice, Its a nice light but rich flavouring, melts smooth in your mouth and isn't really bitter at all
The box it comes in is quite nice, nice enough to even give as a gift, and can be reclosed to keep the chocolates fresh.
I would however like the price to be a tad lower,
But over all they were great

I rated the Nestle's milk chocolate ones first, so my review is going to be almost identical to the other, with a slight change.

The packaging for these chocolates is very cute! There are 10 chocolates ordered nicely in a flip-open box. The box also has a tab to close the flap afterward, when you went to set the rest aside for later. It really gives these chocolates a special look!

$3.99 seems to be a bit pricey for chocolate, but I enjoyed the dark chocolate a lot, so it's a nice treat once in a while.

These chocolates are a decent size, not too big, but not small enough to need more than one in a sitting.

This particular box was filled with chocolates which had a dark chocolate shell with a light mousse in the centre. Now, I tried the milk chocolate ones before this, and thought the taste was pretty average, maybe it was the way the mousse and the hard chocolate mixed. I expected I would like the milk chocolate better, but it turns out the dark chocolate is my favourite. I'm not even a big fan of dark chocolate. I was pleasantly surprised by how sweet these chocolates were! The mousse and the hard chocolate mixed well together, and though the milk chocolates were nothing to rave about, I think that the dark chocolate ones are much better, and definitely above average. I still have the taste in my mouth, mmm!

As said in the other review, these chocolates are filling, and you're going to only want 1 or 2, and save the rest for later. These chocolates (especially the dark chocolate) would be good for dessert after a meal.

I would recommend the dark chocolate over the milk chocolate, but as said before, both of these are worth buying. I definitely recommend this chocolate.

I normally don't like dark chocolate because I find many brands to be either too bitter or too chalky for my taste. But I really loved these chocolates! They were the perfect mix between bitter and sweet and the mousse just melted perfectly. I have finally found a dark chocolate that is good for me and passes my sensitive taste palette. I plan on having these on the dessert tray at my next cocktail party.

Whether you need a quick pick me up or just want a healthy dose of magnesium and antioxidants, Nestle Noir Mousse Delicate dark chocolate provides both. With melt-in-your mouth mousse hidden inside, you don't miss out on indulgence, and a high percentage of cocoa mass means you don't skip the health benefits. The individual squares make for a simple way to have a taste without overindulging. And if you are not tempted (like I was) to have more than one serving, there is a convenient tab to wrap it up for next time you need a treat.

I received the Dark and Milk chocolate Nestle Noir Mousse for the Chick Advisor Review Club. I was excited to review the chocolate as I love chocolate. I chose to right a review for the dark chocolate as I prefer dark chocolate. The first impression that I had was this was not your normal chocolate. The mousse inside definitely adds a different dimension to the chocolate piece. It reminded me of eating a chocolate pastry. I tried a second piece and I figured out the mousse in side was like a silky marshmallow. It is almost like eating a bite size chocolate dufflet tart, but not as decadent. It left an after taste in my mouth, but it was not the bitterness of the chocolate as I am used to that. I like the chocolate, but I do not love it. I would recommend it to someone who likes chocolate and marshmallows together.

I received this along with the Milk version for the product reviews. I post the same thing, with slight variations in both product reviews.

The first thing I will talk about the packaging. I really like parts of the packaging. It's not covered in a wrapper like an Aero bar. I find that packaging can be annoying to wrap back up if I don't eat all of it. The lid doesn't come completely off like a regular box of chocolates but is hinged at one side so it opens like a door. Except the door is flipped 90 degrees (I hope that made sense). Although I initially found the packaging interesting it then became annoying. There is a little tag you have to unseal from the lid and then insert into the bottom of the box to close it. I was unsure what to do and had to think a little bit. Even so, I did that incorrectly on the first box but managed to close it on the second box. Personally I found it a little annoying to figure out and it took more effort that I think it should take to close a box of chocolates. I'm probably not going to use those tags and set a book on it to ensure that it stays closed and nothing gets in it.

Next is the taste. I think it's about an average taste. I've had better chocolate but I've also had worse. I prefer dark chocolate in general, therefore I prefer the dark chocolate over the milk chocolate. I liked the dark mousse and dark chocolate together. I think they compliment each other better than the milk and dark chocolate although that's just my personal preference. The mousse inside is nice - very soft.

For the price, I think it's decent. You get 10 pieces of chocolate and I don't think I could eat too many of the at once.

The main question that comes to mind is if I would buy it again? I would consider it but it's not my favourite chocolate. Unless I really wanted something with the mousse inside, for $3.99 I'd probably get something else. That's not to say it's bad, because it's not, I just personally prefer other chocolate over this one.
