Hmm, without giving away too much, I think I might be JUST outside the target age range. It's a fun guilty pleasure kind of read, but I wouldn't buy it. Borrow it from a friend or get it at the library. I'm not itching to read the sequel unless I can get my hands on it at a discount.

This book started my obsession with the Twlight series. I loved this book. Stephanie Meyer is an amazing writer. You identify with Bella (main character) throughout this book.

A great book! I bought it for my teenage daughter and ended up reading it myself.
I was very skeptical at first which is why I read it. I love this book now. It's intriguing, romantic, & captivating.

Ahhh,.... young, immortal love. I read this book, along with all the others in the series because when there is so much hype about something, it feels almost negligent not to be in on it. I'm a fan of vampire stories and the supernatural in general as well, so it was a natural read for me. I liked the over all theme of the book, although it was pretty predictable and Bella is an annoying drama queen. Having said that, it was like mind crack and I couldn't wait to read the next one. It sucked me in even though at times I was rolling my eyes. The reason it grabs you though isn't because of Bella and Edward's story so much as it is about everyone's story. I wanted to learn more about the Cullen's in general, not just the two main characters. By reading the series you get to glimpse into everyone's past and see how all the peices of this family fit together.
The other cool thing about this book is that everyone seems to be reading it within a massive age gap. I can sit down with my neice and totally be in the loop about La Push and what I think Bella should do.

However if you are a Twilight junkie, head to Stephanie Meyer's webpage and read Midnight Sun. This is Twilight re-written from Edward's point of view and is a far better version of the story. The first 250ish pages are available to read off the webpage, but the book to this date isn't finsihed. (long story made shorter- someone leaked a draft of the book to the internet and she stopped writing it, but posted what she did have online so her fans could read it and it wasn't a total waste.)

Go ahead... I officially give you permission to get swept up in Twilight mania for the entertainment factor alone. WIll this book make you a better person or make you see the world in a different light? Probably not... but it is a great read for a vacation or a weekend spent in the hammock ignoring the dishes.

I have mixed feelings about this book. I wanted to read it after all the hype, and as usual, this book (like many others) did not live up to it. By a really big margin.

Having said that, I thought the plot was original and I was drawn in for the first half or so. It's a refreshing take on the dark vampiric world and I think there was tons of potential for a really gripping story here. Sadly, the potential was not harnessed.

Bella is a swooning 1950s throwback who seems to have little identity of her own, a classic people pleaser and follower with no purpose in life. Edward is unrealistically written as a quasi stalker type with perfect restraint. To be honest, I found most of the supporting cast to be much more believable than these two.

The writing style is simple, which is great for teen readers, but below adult standards. This book with a major literary makeover would be stunning. Just not feeling it the way it's presented; I only finished it because of my inability to stop in the middle (I must read every book to the end, unless it's truly abysmal).

First let go of your expectations, then pick this book up. Ignoring the hoopla will probably make it more fun for you. I checked it out from the library instead of buying it, so take it for a test drive before you commit to the box set.

I read all the books and although I enjoyed the books, I would not re read them. It's just too common and re used theme, her witting doesn't even paint a beautiful picture like some others. So yes you could read it and you would mostly likely enjoy it for a few minutes, I WOULD suggest the book if your a teenager or in a relationship.

I really only liked the first half. Then it was just to much "Oh Edward, Oh Edward please let me be a vampire"

This book is so poorly written. It's really terrible. I only finished it because my 12 year old wanted to read it and I was checking to see if it was age appropriate. I liked the reminders I got about high school and all that fun lusty electricity when you get to sit next to THAT boy in class. But the writing just sucks.
