The verdict is in, and smudge pots take the prize for sexy eyes! This unique gel eyeliner and shadow is an innovative alternative to traditional powder and liquid formulas. This clever little gel has an inky intensity that leaves powder shadows in the dust. A favorite for the sultry, smoky eye. Apply with a liner brush for razor-sharp precision or smudge it with your fingers for more complete coverage. Remember to always close the airtight lid to keep the gel soft and pliable.

I have extremely oily eyelids and NEVER found an eyeliner that could last more than 3 hours without fading or disappearing entirely. enter the smudge pot! I am terrible with liquid eyeliners but found it really easy to apply with a brush. to save money, go to an art supply store and get a flat, angled brush which works great (make sure to get natural hairs or you'll poke your eye out). despite the name, it doesn't smudge once it sets and I found it to be mostly waterproof.
the only downside is the pot dries up fast, which is unfortunate because there's a lot of product in one pot, and I don't even get to use 75% of it. it's also a bit pricey, but I am a regular shopper at Sephora so it is the usual amount I pay for makeup. I've now switched over to Smashbox's liner; same great results but doesn't dry out as quickly!
These smudge pots really do what they're suposed to do! I have this in Bronze and it is a gorgeous color! The packaging is ncie and although the price paid is quite high, you actually do get a lot of product which lasts you for quite some time. I have been using this as my eyeliner for a long time and i found that it was super easy to apply with a small angled brush. The product literally lasts all day and even if you do a bit of rubbing, it doesnt move until you take it off with makeup remover. You can also use this product as a base for your eyeshadows to make it stay and last longer. I would recommend however, that you make sure you tighten your jar very tightly after every use as i have heard that it does tend to dry out if you dont. Of course, this goes for all other gel liners, but just thought i'd put it here anyways. Overall, i LOVE this product and would highly recommend it!
Another fave of mine from Stila. This is definitely a staple in my beauty stash. I received a mini gift set of 3 in: Black Cat, Bronze, and Gray. This gel formula glides on the eyes easily whether you're giving it sexy definition or smoking them out. It is also long-lasting. I love layering underneath powder shadows as well for extra drama. When I'm in a hurry and want a little colour and definition I take a brush and smudge the Bronze shade close to the lash line and into the crease. Want to get the other shades as well. A little goes a long way so it'll last for a while. The only downside is that if you don't close the cap tightly it will dry out.
Love Love Love these smudge pots. They last all day and stay put. The gel dries extremely fast, so you have to work quickly. A flat or thin brush is necessary to use these pots properly. Stila sells a brush to use specifically for them, but they're a little pricey. If you don't already have a brush for gel liners, you can look up what stila's brush looks like and find a cheaper alternative somewhere else.
I have the smudge pot in black and brown. The black one is very very dark, and works well as an eyeliner. If you put a little bit on and "smudge" it right away, the color becomes lighter and is great for smokey eyed look. The brown one it gorgeous! It's brown with a golden shimmer. It makes a very pretty eyeshadow.
I've heard that smudge pots have the tendency to dry out, so I've been very careful with mine. I make sure it's closed tightly after every use and that I don't leave the lid off for too long. So far it's hadn't dried on me yet.
I am not a big eyeliner girl and only use this on special occasions. It's a bit pricey, but works well with the right brush and stays put until you take it off (it doesn't say on the box, but I'm pretty sure it's waterproof - something you could use to wear on teary days like weddings etc..) Also, for a black liner, it stays really black vs the many other products I've tried that turn gray/lighter over the evening. I would recommend it!
i love stila smudge pots! it was a little tricky to put on at first...you need a steady hand...but the staying power of this gel eyeliner won me over. I put it on in the morning and it stays put all day. I've replaced my usual daily kohl pencil with this product :)
It's true that you'll need a little practice with this liner. You need a proper brush (a flat liner) and good technique. Having said that, I heart the Smudge Pots! I've only tried the Brown and I'd definitely buy it in other colors. It truly lasts all day! In fact, you'd better move fast if you make an application boo boo because it sets quickly. So, if you want the smudge-y look, then do it right away. You can make it smudge-y like a liner shadow, a thin precise line, a cat's eye look, a thick bold line...whatever your little heart desires. Just be patient, practice, and you'll heart the Smudge Pots too!
One of the best eyeliners I've ever used. It takes a while to learn to use it properly but once you do you won't be able to live without it. It stays on forever and you can keep it straight or smudgy depending on what you want.
