Not as effective as I was hoping
Unfortunately I didn’t find it was terribly helpful for my gluten intolerance. First of all the fact that you have to take it before means you have to know ahead of time you might be accidentally “glutened” and that isn’t always the case. The most side effect I noticed is that it made me go to the bathroom.
Possibly worked 4 out of 5 times
Gluten Guard is a great concept, however it does not work 100% of the time. Out of the 5x I used it I got sick with the symptoms I formally experience when accidentally eating gluten. The other 4x it could have worked great or I may not have ingested any gluten, as I only used it as a precaution per the products directions.
Just incase
I tried this product two separate times to give this product a fair evaluation
I took the product once 15 minutes before trying a I beleved to be a gluton free profuct of savory stir fry and was very delighted by the results. The second time I tried this product before eating cauliflower and broccoli soup and was not effected by a gluton attack
Peace of Mind When Dining Out
I took GluteGuard while eating out over the past month. I get gluten-related GI effects and always have anxiety when eating out. Although I try to ensure my meals are gluten-free, there is always a risk of cross-contamination at restaurants. I am pleased that I did not experience any unpleasant effects after eating out when taking GluteGuard, however it is difficult to assess the actual effectiveness of this product without knowing if my food was indeed contaminated with gluten. Nevertheless, it is super easy to take and gives me peace of mind when eating out.
Helps Accidental Gluten Injection
I'm on the fence with how effective GluteGuard works. This product is meant for "accidental" gluten ingestion not as a means to eat gluten. You need to take a pill 15 minutes prior to ingestion which to me means your gluten ingestion is not accidental.
I took GluteGuard 4 times in a month before eating foods containing gluten. I took it 3 times prior and 1 time after. Each time I was gassy after eating but not bloated and no diarrhea.
Would I use this again. Maybe. It's comforting knowing you have some protection. But, I'm also not going to eat anything with gluten on purpose.
A little extra security before gluten free meals
I liked the simplicity of the ingredients in Glute Guard and the package was small enough to tuck into my purse for meals out. My typical formulas for accidental gluten have a little more ingredients / enzymes to help digest any accidental gluten without issues. I did not experience any issues after my meals with Glute Guard, however I did order gluten free anyway, so it might be hard to tell how well it worked. Depending on the price and availability, I would consider buying Glute Guard again in the future. My other formulas also allow for taking immediately before the meal, whereas you need a 15 minute window first with Glute Guard (which isn’t bad if you’re ordering at a restaurant anyway).
for mild gluten issue
If you are a true gluten intolerant person this may not be for you. It could work well for mild issues . Bloating upset stomachs are not fun and no one wants one. I would suggest avoiding gluten if you have a severe reaction to it
May work for some, not for me
I received this product from Butterly in exchange for my honest review. Personally, this did not work for me. It did not ease the symptoms from gluten indigestion. I tried it with pizza and kept the pizza plain, with lactose free cheese and low Fodmap toppings so it kept the focus on gluten. Unfortunately I did not experience relief. I am not a celiac; just gluten sensitivity. I tried a 2nd time with a piece of toast. Unfortunately this product isn’t for me. I understand it's all natural ingredients which is great but perhaps my body just doesn't react well.
Great idea in theory
In theory, this is fantastic idea. And I was so excited because I thought that I could ingest a bit of gluten what I didn’t realize was that it is For just in case you might be exposed to gluten. And to be honest, I always check diligently so taking this 15 minutes before I eat doesn’t really do much for me as I am already quite rigourous with being careful about gluten. I also have a hard time remembering to take my regular medication let alone making sure that I take a pill 15 minutes before I eat maybe accidentally ingesting gluten.
Not much difference
I can't say that this is very effective, it might work for some people but this somehow upset my gut more than anything. Charcoal pills have been more effective than this. I became very bloated and gassy, more than eating just a bit of gluten on its own. I guess this works differently for everyone, just like we can react differently to gluten.
