I should preface this review with saying that I haven’t dated what you would call A LOT over the years, so I suppose I could not actually relate to a large part of this book. However even though I do not have first hand experience with a lot of this male behaviour, I know people who have and can also relate based simply on the fact that I am a woman. That being said I HATED IT.

It is supposed to be a wake-up call kind of self-help book for the dating challenged. The basic idea that they try to get across is that women do not value themselves even when they have tremendous worth and potential, and as a result we pick the wrong men and end up punishing ourselves (or at least this is my interpretation of what they were trying to say). According to them women over analyze men and situations and as a result spend valuable time obsessing over the wrong men when we could be out looking for the right one. The point they really try and hit home (which is obvious from the title) is don’t make excuses for men’s bad behaviour – take it as a sign that he is just not that into you. THERE I summarized all you need to know about this book, so you don’t even have to read it now. Honestly, seeing the author on Oprah was enough to summarize the book.

The reason I hated this book SO much was because I found it to be condescending – it assumes that women are all the same, and that we all stupidly (knowingly or not) accept mens atrocious behaviour in our blind quest to find mister right. I’m sorry but I just don’t think the majority of women fall into this category, and even the ones that do, do not deserve to be spoken to the way the author writes – as if they’re stupid. I suppose they assume the ones that need the help are the ones reading the book (and considering I don’t think I needed this book I guess it was my mistake for reading it). But regardless, I will not recommend this book to any of my single friends because although the author was trying to empower women and build their self esteem, I feel that it does the opposite of what it was trying to achieve.

I read this book after breaking up with my ex boyfriend. And I have read it many times since just because it is hilarious. Whether you agree with everything or not you will have a good laugh and the book really does make some good points. If you don't want to go out and buy it, take it out from your library.

I read this book over the Valentine's Day weekend. No, the irony is certainly not lost on me!! Once I started I couldn't put it down. Every chapter was about a guy that I knew or had dated. The advice is timeless and thought-provoking. It really hit home how much time I have spent on doomed relationships and guys that were not worth my time!!

I did think that some of the advice is a little bit unrealistic. It seems like taking the advice literally and to the letter means that NO guy will live up to the rules! If he doesn't call exactly when he says he will... dump him! If he doesn't ask you out within a short time of meeting you... lose him! If he says something that could be taken the wrong way... forget him! I know I'm simplifying the rules, but seriously, these guidelines are strict! But I guess that’s the whole point… don’t settle; you deserve better!

Well written, funny and relevant, He's Just Not That Into You is a book that every girl on the dating scene should read!

Being just over a month later I find myself pining for a guy that definitely is Just Not That Into Me!! When will I learn!? I guess I have to read the book again!

Ok, this book has become my dating bible. Its not only hilarious but at the same time so true and always dead on when it gives dating scenarios. I couldn't put it down and read it within two days. Definitely opened my eyes when it comes to the dating world and at the end of the day it makes you stop analyzing every little detail and realize that "hey, he just wasn't that into me so...NEXT" lol A definite buy for every single babe out there!!!

Cheesy? Yes. Obvious? You betchya. But face it - we all know someone who needs this book! For the somewhat oblivious friend/family member that just doesn't "get it".

I would recommend this for a FUN quick read. I found that what the authors said was pretty common sense. I didn't learn anything that I didn't already know. That said it was a FUNNY read. I really enjoyed the authors style of writing and his directness. It is worth reading because it doesn't take more than an hour or so to finish but, I wouldn't read it for content.

One of the threads on chickchat prompted me to dig out this book and post a review. So, w/ that, I'd like to call your attention to a book I read several years ago. Its called "He's Just Not That Into You -- The No-Excuses Truth to Understanding Guys" and is authored by a writer and a consultant from "Sex and the City", Greg Behrendt and Liz Tuccillo. This book is a great read, it goes quickly, and its loaded w/ real love-life examples that we can all relate to. So if you question how "into you" that one guy is, quit hyper-analyzing his actions and quit making excuses for his behavior. Grab this book and start learning how to read a guy and settle in w/ the one that really is that into you!
